New Were reading material

couple fun book for the WW in me, as foxy as I may be. One is
Werewolves by Jon Izzard, a pop look at our favorite furry killing
machines. The other is The Werewolf's Guide to Life: A manual for the
newly bitten by Ritch Duncan and Bob Powers. And here I thought I knew
everything Were through World Of Darkness' Werewolf: the Forsaken.
Oh yeah, I also have my Wolfman avatar on my 360. Awoo. Still, I would
have preferred the wolfman from Van Helsing. Now *that's* my Grr face!

There is a guide? Well thanks, I'm off to pick up a copy.
Honestly though, I couldn't stand anything Wold of Darkness wrote. I
mean, they turned werewolves into an eco freindly misunderstood
neighbor, instead of someone cursed to kill the ones they love,
etc....
And they ruined vampires for me. WoD just wasn't dark. Monsters don't
play by rules, thats what makes them outsiders. WoD tried to structure
everything, and actually create a parallel but hidden society that got
along.
I just don't get that.

Amazingly, until once again christianity got hold of the werewolf
stories,
werwolves were heroes, anti-heroes and victims. WoD werewolves are
closer to reality than the whiney, angsty "I'm gonna get everyone who
are
mean to me." wet dream monsters we see today.

Yeah, that sounds like today's general social attitude of entitlement
and no
consequence. There was a time monsters followed 'rules' even if only
subtly
and infrequently. Today, the audience wants mindless slaughter for the
sake
of gore, anarchy and murder. Not a good sign.

You know, I'm really glad you brought that up.
Try as I might, I can't seem to find a good werewolf story that seems
to bring home the mysticism. Ah, what am I trying to say.
The genre lacks magic as it stands. To me, it specifically lacks
Lucifer. And by lacking the devil, I mean things like WoD and their
kin, for these are basically atheist settings.
No, to me the werewolf means something supernatural that includes God
and the Devil as part of the setting. For instance, I was trying to
come with a Halloween story this year, and I kind of came up with a
romance story about a nice girl who is werewolf, who gets seduced by a
nice young Luciferian. The lifestyle of power and everything.
But I'm still not a very good writer, and it's taking a lot longer
than I thought. Also, I had to do research. Still, it's good to be
alive and typing this to you.
Anyway, it's good to hear from you Skytech (and also you, snuffy).

Atheist settings would have no magic or mystism. WoD is closer to an
animism where the spirit world is very active. Animism is probably the
oldest
and most common non-scientific belief system in human history. You're
statement says everything not christian is atheist. Strange as that is
since, with
a superficial observation, most christian icons, myths and beliefs are
from
other beliefs and religions. This stretches back into judeism which
took much
of its beliefs, such as the babyonian god of temptation Satan. Like
Satan,
werewolves and vanpires existed way before christianity abused the
concepts.

Sounds interesting. What is Luciferian? I take it he's not a
worshiper of
the Roman God of Light. Just another name for a Satanist? Sounds like
the girl is the victim. A 'nice young' Luciferian? Intriguing.

I guess it's hard to pin Luciferians. It's not like Satanism. One told
me that there is no real Lucifer, only an 'egregore', an artificial
supernatural being created by men and kept alive by human sacrifice.
That is, some (?) Luciferians deny Lucifer, Christ, God, and pretty
much everything but their own petty selves and this thing they have
created and keep alive, which is more akin to an underground social
movement than, say, an idol or something. Or even the devil. But they
think it grants them supernatural powers, because it is larger than
them or something.
It was a real surprise to me, too. For instance, did you know that in
America there is a group of people that the FBI calls the "silver
shirts", that is dedicated to overthrowing the government of the
United States and replacing it with a psychic dictatorship? These
people are headed by the egregore worshipers, I think or something.
Anyway, this was going to be my story. I'm sorry if you don't think
it's original enough, but I sure as hell do. I mean, how many
werewolves do you know that live long enough to tell a story like
that?
