I read that many furs don't much like yiff or spooge or anything else which
makes us look like weird fetishy types to the others out there. What I wish
to know is how you feel here about it, crap or art? Pervy or natural? Give
your two pen'eth worth here.
Hmmm... this could go one of two ways. It could become a fascinating
and vigorous thread, or it could descend into another boring
political argument. Ah well, kudos to you for giving it a go, and
let's see if it can work...
Personally I don't have all that much interest in the yiffy stuff - I
prefer "human humans" where that's concerned - but so long as people
have a bit of common sense, such as taking account of where children
are likely to be around, and not yelling about their bedroom
activities across crowded restaurants or anything, then I see no
reason to complain about it.
Basically, my rule of thumb (claw?) is that I'm fine with any sort of
yiff where the characters/people involved are consenting adults. What
they *look* like doesn't matter so much, but if the anthros or
whatever are depicted as mature, sapient beings with the capacity to
give informed consent to sexual activity, then I'm happy with that.
Right - there's an on-topic answer to an on-topic question. Maybe
this could be becoming a trend! =;)

I like the yiffy and non-yiffy stuff equally. I appreciate it for the art
rather than for "masterbatory enhancement." I have a preference for
anatomical correctness whether it be yiffy or not. Irks me to see males
with their genitals missing.
I don't have any particular concern about children seeing to it. Children
don't have any interest in yiffing so it's not going to have an effect on
them. Discussing bedroom activities in a resturaunt doesn't bother me so
long as you're not actually "yelling" or purposefully trying to be
disruptive. Other people might be trying to have their own conversations.
I also think it should be between consenting adults--whatever species.

Yes, but in many cases the characters depicted are of species that
don't exist in RL. How do you know what "anatomical correctness"
should be? Okay, so you can often extrapolate from the RL animals
they're based upon, but it doesn't always work, since there are no RL
dragons or gryphons, for example.

Hmmm... I'm not at all sure about that. Children are naturally
curious about more or less everything, and sex certainly isn't
excluded from that.

But it does bother many people, and as such I think it's only polite
to restrict your discussion of such things in a public place open to
families. I'd personally much rather people talked about what they do
in terms of sex than what they do in terms of violence, but again a
lot of people would be upset by it, and so it's considerate to keep
such conversation private.

I see nothing wrong with blending sexuality with furriness, not that I
ever had a chance to be sexually active. I still enjoy furry erotica
both yiff (tame stuff) and spooge (racy stuff) cuz, quite frankly, I'm
celibate not dead! There's been some mighty fine work out there to
stir the... soul! Furry adds the exotic to a biased interest in
furriness in general.

All in the fur but yeah, something shows even if the cameltoe outline.
Too much fur, both fore and aft, make relieving oneself messy.
I think the missing genitals in much art is caution and gunshyness to
criticism of displaying too much and over compensate the other way. I
do it in my art. *Guilty look* My audience tends to point and get all
flustered when I use common sense and knowledge of natural form.

Yep, if they don't know what it is, they'll ask!!

This comes up rather amusingly in the "pet portrait" business. The folks
that do flat art have it easy... just show the critter in a pose where no
naughty bits are showing. But those of us that make three-dimensional art
have more of a problem. Me, I've only done a couple of dog portraits, and
those of long-haired breeds. They were both male, but it didn't matter.
But it's funny to hear some of the folks agonizing about having to do a
short-haired male dog, especially with a curly tail... ain't no way you
can conceal the family jewels on a dog like that, and being that they're
very often champion show dogs who make a fair amount of money for their
owners at stud, those are an important "feature."
I have to sympathize. There was a point, in the construction of this
horse (grulla Quarter Horse stallion) I'm doing, that it struck me that at
a certain level, I'm making a stuffed animal with genitals. Not quite as
prominent, though. OTOH, if I *was* doing a pet portrait of something
with enough room, I'd be putting in a strategically placed squeaker. (In
order to complain about it, the customer would have to explain how they
found it, right? Heh.)
I'm taking the horse (in partially finished state) to teddy-bear club
tonight, so it'll be amusing to see if any of the gals even notice that
he's not of indeterminate gender. I'm reasonably sure one will; she works
at the zoo. She'd check.
(Oh, and as to the original subject: I'm agin' it. Pornography in
general, though, not just furry. The furry stuff I'm slightly more
against on a business level, though, but that's purely an economic
motivation... I don't think adding fur to porn makes any moral difference.
But I've been all through it on aff, so anybody cares to know more can
Google for it.)

Of course I think that it's best to keep in mind that such things are not to
everyone's taste and I would never dream of displaying such stuff to
anyone {of the proper age, mind} who hadn't asked directly to see it.

The short answer: I'm in favour of it.
The long answer: I find it amusing so many furs decry the media fascination
with the yiffy aspects of furry. Um... well, maybe because it's
*everywhere* and obviously plays a huge role in the furry fandom. What
exactly that role is... well... that's a bigger question...
But personally the aspect I'm not a big fan of is the consequence-free yiff
frenzy ideal that many furries seem to strive for.
By all means, be fascinated with sex and draw it and write about it and go
out and do it, because judging from most of my English Textbooks, that's a
perfectly normal human behaviour that's even respectable to study
academically. But spare me the crap art and crap stories that feature
ever-smiling furries who never *ever* deal with any of the emotional or
relationship related consequences of sex. That's childish, and sex is for
grown ups.

Not if you look closely at the recent bit of CGI where "lassie" fights a
cougar in a commercial. Tape it or Tivo it and in the first scene where
lassie jumps up you can see the indication of a penis under his fur that
is moving under the force of inertia after the rest of lassie's body has

I like it, if it deals with the emotional aspects as well. A strong
emotional scene can work wonders for a romance story. And it's not like
Shakespeare was clean.
I get annoyed by the pictures that look like balloons, that irritates me.
I want realism, (perhaps I should say Surrealism).
I have a mate online, and we yiff, but as allways, it is very emotional for
us, and we never talk about it with others who don't want to know.
And my family thinks I'm a freak whether I yiff or not, so why should I
care?

Makes little sense to me how much violence is acceptable, but sex is not.
There are others that might be offended by it, but there are others who are
offended by lots of things. Can't really be concerned about what every
stranger might think about everything you do or you won't be able to do
anything. And nothing's going to change if people are afraid if it.
Comes down to using a bit of reason and common sense. If it's going to

Me no speaky englisher, round eyes.
Perversion is a natural part of not just furry, but society itself.
There is the normal and the weird; the expected and deranged, the
commonplace, the bizarre. Some people are attracted toward normal
things because they are safe, standard, and probably work fine. There
is an allure to the forbidden though, and that is probably the reason
for every single fetish in existence; that and coping with
insecurity. Someone had to eat the first artichoke, after all.

Even outside of pop music... there is religious music, a testimony to
certain religions's triumph over human nature. In folk music, the
song not about a lost or found love is exceedingly rare, an example
being an Irish tune called "Boil the Breakfast Early," although that
song was just people making pot bubbly noises and didn't have any
words. ^.^
I guess there are exceptions everywhere (Evanescence's Exodus) but the
vast majority of songs are yiffy, if horribly repressed by our
freakishly Puritan society. I mean, was Aladdin really talking about
the rug they were sitting on when he wanted to give Jasmine "a magic
carpet ride?" :)
