Some days she would feel like painting all in one color. some days in a riot of color. She used the color and the amount of paint to give a sort of idea how she felt that day. When i look at one of her paintings, i don't see the scribbles of a child. I see a celebration of color. Well, John,When Ruby died in childbirth (or calfbirth), the whole dam city mourned for days. Her paintings of hers were sold over the years and helped raise money for the zoo to benefit all the animals. Painting gave her pleasure and did some good in raising awareness about elephants in the wild, those in captivity. Children especially loved to watch her paint. She had her own ideas of what she wanted to express and in what colors to express it. She didn't paint to please some rich count or duke or king. She painted to please herself and surprisingly, pleased a lot of people with what she did.Not all "art" is ART, but Ruby's paintings did something a lot of quasi-artists could never do. They touched people and made them think. Not bad for a "dumb" animal, huh?

Yes Dennis, we are blessed. Many of us give out of our abundance to others as well, but sometimes what we give is time, and not money, because money is in short supply... and sometimes when we give money or goods it's a lot like that story about the Thanksgiving boxes : ) And you know what? I think that's the kind of stuff we can count on to change our world. If the anonymous 5% that Sandy has mentioned help too, fine... but even if they don't, people like us can still change the world.

MarylynIMO we each have needs depending on how we see life.I need food air water etc.But I also need other things because of my circumstances. If I have extra money I need the internet and travel and kids that I give things to and a father I take care of and a bunch of other things that money makes possible. But I also have an end to need and for me to keep anything above that for me is greed. I don't need greed.
