Work sucks...

Well... I've been there a week and it's starting to suck. This week was
only training - no 12-hour shifts... I got my shift hours today and
guess what? I'm working Xmas Eve, Xmas day, Boxing Day, New years eve,
new years day, g/f's birthday and our(me and g/f) 1 year anniversary.
Typical... bloody typical. Nevermind... i'm sure I'll survive.
Good points:
They pay me more for shift work...
Coffee is FREE :):):)
Hopefully they'll give me new years day and g/f's birthday off (holiday)
I got 86% in the test we had today :). Highest mark they've ever had is
87%... and our trainer forgot to give us one of the sections so I should
have got 90%.
Oh yeah... don't have to start until next Friday which is pretty cool :)

I don't have to work any of those days. But I did spend the last
three work days fighting the Affirmative Action Officer because one
of the finalists for a job here is (perish the fucking thought!) a
white male with an Anglo-sounding surname.
I grew up in a family of liberals, and if forced to one side or the
other, I guess I'd still have to say I'm a liberal. But I'd also
love to stand the concept of Affirmative Action up against a wall
and shoot it with an AK-47 until it looked like Swiss cheese.

Don't worry, Scott. Things will only get worse.
Take my advise: Set your brain on autopilot,
avoid the highheeled kiss-arses (they are
spies). Oh; and don't forget: a liquid lunch
of vodka/tonic/lime twist can make many
a bad day blurry and difficult to remember.
The less you remember, the better. And
remember, if you ever seperate with
the company, leave them something to
remember you by. The fact that work sucks
the life out of you, is only the tip of the iceburg.
Now that you're earning an income, you'll
begin to understand that there are many paths,
in life, one can follow: all of which are a waste of time.

The good news is that my workplace will be closed from December 24 to
January 4. The bad news is that none of us get paid for this
involuntary vacation.

We did that in California. It's called Proposition 209.
