Do you hate watching those home improvement shows on TV which
show how easy stuff is? I've just spent a weekend in hell trying
to get our bathroom done.

We finally had someone come in and finish off the shower and tile
the floor. We were able to texture and paint the walls without
too much problem, but it didn't turn out the way I would have
liked.

I had bought a toilet a while back so went to put that in. It
turns out the freakin' thing was a little too long and the tank
wouldn't fit on because the wall was in the way. After going
back to Home Depot is appears that there are different models of
toilet/tanks depending on how far away from the wall the drain
is. The moron that helped me get the toilet originally never
even mentioned that. They had some on sale and he was like,
"Here, this is on sale so why don't you buy it." Of course,
looking at the boxes on display I can't tell which one to get
because they're not really marked in a human-readable language,
so I'm still stuck without a toilet.

So I decided to put in the counter and sink. I bought one of
those counters that comes disassembled because they're so much
cheaper. It took quite a while but it was fairly painless. I
pushed it up against the wall and discovered the corner is
exactly 90 degrees square, so now the cabinet fits in with a big
gap. PLUS, the back brace for the cabinet was right where the
pipes for the faucet came out of the wall, so I had to raise the
thing up about 1/2 inch in order to clear the pipes.

The sink also fits on kind of funny since the wall isn't square.
I hope when it's finished the people don't complain about it.
You can't really notice it unless you look closely, so they
probably won't realize it until they've been living there for a
while.

Stuff left to do: finish the plumbing to the sink, attach and
pain the bottom and top moulding, install the toilet, finish
framing and painting the door, and put a threshold in the door
where the two different types of tile meet.

I wonder what will go wrong next!?
