Drawing celebrities for money

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I am a portrait artist and I
love drawing/painting portraits of Stevie Nicks...I have people who want
to pay me to do portraits of her and I have even thought of selling them
on ebay. Is this legal using a celebrities image for making money in
this manner? When I draw a portrait, I take it from a cd cover or photo
I have and I generally change the background, hair, clothing etc so it
isn't the same as the source I borrowed it from. Any help will be
appreciated!

It may give Ms. Nicks cause for a civil action for misappropriation of
identity. Vanna White used this cause of action when an advertising agency
ran an ad that included a model turning letters in a fictious game show.
Not only that, you may be infringing on the copyright of the CD cover
creator. Your creation doesn't have to be exactly like the original to give
rise to these actions.
