Why Do People Hate Lawyers?

Just curious. Never sure why people often respond with the blanket "I
hate lawyers..."

They probably should more accurately say that they hate the legal
system in the country where they reside. In the US, a big objection
to the system is that it over depends on lawyers bringing justice by
negotiating with other lawyers. Another criticism is that the
American trial seems to be more an exercise in theatrics rather than
truth finding.

In California, 70-80% of litigants who go into court go
without a lawyer.

If true, it probably comes from watching the wildly
unrealistic portrayal of courtroom action on TV.
