This silliness is the product of ignorance.
The flag is always worn in such a way that the field of stars is
"forward" with respect to the wearer, so as the soldier moves forward
the flag is seen to trail. On the LEFT shoulder, therefore, that field
must be on the left with respect to the red/white stripes. On the RIGHT
shoulder, it must be on the right side of the flag.
Also, it's a little known fact that Betsy Ross's granddaughter, who
helped with the project, was dyslexic.
