Griffin acknowledged in television interviews that she had not
responded to her primary doctors' repeated requests to return for care
until after damage had occurred.
Griffin is expected to make a full vision recovery with treatment and
specialized contact lenses.

I am not a doctor.
Good luck to Kerry, who will probably get sued or have a website in
their name started (as per Brent Hanson) for trying to help someone who
is possibly irreparable (although epi ingrowth is treatable, but Brent
will tell you she will go blind).

1) Hagele has no way of determining if Kathy Griffin is expected to
make a full vision recovery unless Kathy in fact conveyed this
information to Hagele.
2) Dr. Assil does not fit specialized contact lenses -- he is a
refractive surgeon. So apparently Dr. Assil is NOT capable of
repairing damaged caused by Dr. Maloney.

Griffin had previously stated in an interview that recovery with
contacts was expected, HOWEVER her personal website now says that her
vision is poor. So things may have changed or her website is not up to
date.

Not only does Dr. Assil have the ability and talent to fit specialized
lenses, he is also able to refer Griffin to any other doctor for
outside care and bring specialists into his facility as needed.
Apparently Brent Hanson of LasikFraud has never heard of comanagement.
Nice try to deflect the fact that Kathy Griffin chose a CRSQA
Certified Refractive Surgeon for care after treatment for epithelial
ingrowth was delayed and she suffered subsequent corneal damage.
1) If Dr. Assil actually was capable if fixing problems caused by Dr.
Robert Maloney, a CRSQA "certified" surgeon, then Kathy would not need
contacts.
2) Glenn Hagele has no way of knowing Kathy Griffin's prognosis or
diagnosis without
a) Viewing her medical charts
b) Reviewing the public statements made Kathy Griffin at

Brent Hanson is the perfect example of "give him enough rope and he
will hang himself". Brent Hanson of LasikFraud.com seems to be able to
"hang himself" again and again and again.
As if a response is necessary: I have not violated any HIPPA
regulations in regard to Kathy Griffin, Robert Maloney, Kerry Assil,
or any other patient or provider.
It appears to me that Brent Hanson's inability to recognize fact from
fiction is surpassed only by his ability to create false accusations
with no justification.
Brent Hanson of LasikFraud.com has so many perceived "pimps" that he
can't see straight....pun intended.
Hanson, you better get that time machine out of your basement and go
back to rearrange all your statements about Kathy Griffin to put them
in order so at least your idiocy keeps a coherent timeline.

"Statement #4: "Kathy disregarded Dr. Maloney's advice to get this
injury treated"
Dr. Maloney performed the 3rd lasik procedure, WaveFront, on Kathy on
6/24/03. This procedure failed to improve Kathy's vision and for the
first time she developed Epithelial Cell Ingrowth. Dr. Maloney
performed surgery #4 on Kathy's right eye on 7/3/03 for the purpose
of removing the cell ingrowth. It wasn't until a checkup a few
months later that Dr. Maloney told Kathy the Epithelial Cells had
returned yet again. After four eye surgeries and countless visits to
Dr. Maloney's office, Kathy lost confidence in Dr. Maloney's
abilities and assurances. She began to seek opinions from other
doctors. She saw no reason to keep Dr. Maloney informed of her visits
to those other doctors. It became increasingly apparent that there are
many different views on how to treat this injury in the lasik
community."
It is all too convenient that Ms. Griffin has not released Dr. Maloney
from his confidentiality requirements so he can publicly present his
side of the issue. She has the ability to say just about anything she
wants, but Dr. Maloney can say almost nothing.
Griffin is correct that there are "many different views on how to
treat" epithelial ingrowth, but not returning to your doctor for
follow-up care when requested really is not one that I would
recommend.
Kathy presented both sides--statements issued by Dr. Maloney or his
representative, along with her side of the story.
You want my doctors' sides of my story?
Dr. Weinman: It was Dr. Hawley's job to measure her pupils.
Dr. Hawley: It was Dr. Weinman's job to measure her pupils.
There you have the short version. They sure made my attorneys' jobs
easy. Maybe it's time to put their depositions on the internet so that
you cannot accuse me of being unfair and only publishing my biased side
of the story.
Glenn, did you know that Dr. Maloney testified on behalf of Dr. Hawley
last month in the state's case with regard to my surgery?

How many times would you allow a doctor to try unsuccessfully to repair
a complication Glenn? According to your reasoning, I should have
remained in the "care" of Dr. Weinman and allowed him to keep operating
on my eye until he got it right.

Are you implying that Dr. Maloney is helpless to defend his reputation?
Her comments are in rebuttal to statements Dr. Maloney or his agent
made to the press.
Dr. Maloney is severely restricted by professional standards as to
what he can and cannot say. All details of the care provided and
attempted to be provided to Griffin are NOT presented to the public.

Keller, not every person's experience with refractive surgery is all
about you.

Get a clue, Keller. We are not talking about you.
Anyone who is knowledgeable understands that epithelial ingrowth is
normally a rather benign complication that can be resolved with
removal of the epithelial cells. Sometimes they can be stubborn and
re-occur, but removal is the resolution. See
http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/ingrowth.htm
About the only way damage will occur from epithelial ingrowth is if
the patient does not receive appropriate treatment in a timely
fashion. That is exactly what happened to Griffin and a contributing
fact is that she did not respond to her doctor's repeated attempts to
get her back into the office for treatment.

He is most certainly restricted, but I would never describe Dr.
Maloney as "helpless".
You did not need to come here to prove your unreasoned bias and
inability to present the full truth. That has already been well
established.
The HBO special was SEVEN YEARS ago. Her semi-recent Bravo show was a
bomb. She is done.

Kathy Griffin is reportedly back together with Matt
Here comes yet another story about a reality TV couple's relationship
(what's going on?), but this is good news: After filing for divorce
back in Sept., Kathy Griffin is reportedly back together with her
husband, Matt Moline."

No, Dr. Maloney is not helpless. He allows you access to confidential
patient information, and you post it on the internet, circumventing
HIPAA regulations.

I know that I've seen "Glenn Hagele" and the word "slick" used in the
same sentence previously.
I wonder if intentional circumvention of HIPAA regulations is
actionable.....
You are simply sore that the truth is out and you don't have a
legitimate reason to blame Dr. Maloney for something.
I'm not sore about anything, Hagele. I don't need to blame Dr. Maloney
for anything. I know that epithelial ingrowth is fairly common after
flap relifts, because the edge of the flap is torn and doesn't seal
back down as smoothly as when freshly cut. I had it myself, remember?
I know of another Maloney patient who had it as well after a relift,
but that's irrelevant.
You are posting someone's medical history without their permission.
You have blamed this person for her problems after suffering a
complication and what you don't get is that you have posted what you
claim is Dr. Maloney's record of what happened, and you are able to go
back to him and ask him about certain things. Kathy Griffin has not
posted a timetable, nor many of the other details surrounding what
happened. You are not talking to her. You have discounted what she
has stated and taken Dr. Maloney's side without giving Kathy the
opportunity for rebuttal.
