Fixing the eye - iVis approach
Alessio G, La Tegola MG, Sborgia C, Dima R
Department of Ophthalmology, Bari, Italy
Purpose: To evaluate the necessity of performing customized
topographic
ablation in eyes with irregular corneal profile.
Methods: Fifty eyes with BSCVA less than 20/25 but with pinhole
visual acuity of 20/20 were enroller in this study. We performed CIPTA
transepithelial PRK in all eyes, using iVis platform (pupillometer
pMetrix, Ires 1000 Hz excimer laser). UCVA, BSCVA,
predictability and stability of refraction, contrast sensitivity (CSV
1000 VectorVision) were analysed.
Results: UCVA improved in all patients. All the eyes had 20/20 of
BSCVA. Contrast sensitivity test revealed a good quality of vision in
all cases. We did not observe any complication.
Conclusion: Customized topographic PRK is a realistic approach in
eyes in which corneal shape causes loss in BSCVA.

Hey, isn't 'complicated eyes' a euphimism for 'corneal refractive
surgery complications'?

Why didn't these guys report pre and post-operative higher order
aberrations?

Why don't you put a sock in it? Keller posts something hopeful and you
just post a pathetic little whine to it.
If it can help someone, why can't it be just that?

S.Kay,

Perhaps you could help educate others with the specifics of your
situation. When you had surgery, what type, your unique circumstances,
the follow-up care you have sought, etc.

Corneal transplants is a rather extreme response to what is normally a
corneal surface problem. Your story may enlighten.

Well, it's quite simple about two years ago I was evaluated as a
candidate for LASIK.  Had the surgery, both eyes at the same time.
After six month I had an enhancement which ended in unsatisfactory
results.  Went through several pairs of contact lens and glasses.
Examined by two specialists both diagnosis were  ECTASIA.   Pach
reading on both eyes were between 250-260.  I don't know the
manufacture of the laser because I was never given the information.
Prior to surgery I was told I had myopia in both eyes.  If I had a
unique set of circumstances I wasn't told and I'm not aware of any at
this time.  I can only relay on what the LASIK surgery and the two
other doctors has told me.  Sorry I can't enlighten you more.

Yep, I had lasik and am very happy about it. You know, like many
MILLIONS of others.

So, it didn't turn out as you like it. Stuff happens. Who put the gun
to your head to have it done?

For about the past year or so it has definitely been about slamming. No

Depends on whether one is a hysterical whiner or not. If one is, no
forum on the planet will help.

That's a shame.  Not looking for love only information.  Maybe you
need to change the name of this forum so it won't mislead others.

Usenet groups are only as useful as the people who post on it. Changing
its name will not change its content. If you are looking for support
then I suggest you go to a moderated group.

This is a newsgroup not a forum, and you can't change the name directly.
You would have to come up with a new newsgroup name, create it, get other
servers to carry it and then convince everybody to migrate, or have the
servers drop this group.  Not likely to happen.

I was ask a question and I answered it.  From that point I've been
busy defending statement made by several of you.  How can I trust your
information after reading your bias pass postings.  I've read some
insightful information posted by others.  It seems like some of you
enjoy behaving like schoolyard bullies.  Ready to gang up and bounce
on other's who had a negative out come or negative view of LASIK.  Do
you have TUNNEL VISION!!!!   It's you who are blind.  Blinded by
lunatic not by LASIK.

I think you are right I do need to go else where to search for
information.  The only information I'm likely to receive here is how
to flame, rant and slam others.  Some of you have a pitfall distortion
view of reality.   I'm sure several of you will jump on this because
this  is what you like to do.  You have turned something that could be
helpful into something corrupt.   Your posting speaks volumes
regarding your character.

I wish all of you the best while you rip each other apart.

This is the last statement I will make.....

The accusations by Dean Andrew Kantis regarding me are false and
without any basis in truth.

Anyone interested in forming their own opinion about the work I do and
the organization I founded is welcome to visit our website at

The usaeyes.INFO website created by CyberAssassin Brent Hanson is not
in any manner affiliated with the Council for Refractive Surgery
Quality Assurance, a nonprofit patient advocacy with websites located

Brent Hanson is not in any way affiliated with USAEyes.org

The creation of the usaeyes.INFO website and purchase of similar

Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act and appears to be in
violation of regulations under the authority of the Internet
Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Brent Hanson has been found in contempt of court (3 counts) for
continuing defamation against William Boothe, MD of Dallas Texas and
AGREED to 18 months in jail for the offence, however Brent Hanson has
not appeared to serve his sentence.

I am not a doctor. For about a decade I have included this statement
in virtually all public correspondence because too many people assumed
I was a doctor due to the researched information I provide regarding
Lasik and similar laser eye surgery. Visit our patient forum at
http://www.USAEyes.org/Ask-Lasik-Expert/

I don't bring it up because it sounds boastful, but I'm quite proud of
what I have been able to accomplish without the benefit of higher
education. For a short professional bio, visit
http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/QSAC.htm#Hagele

Although I have been able to participate in many valuable endeavors, I
would not recommend anyone disregard the potential advantages of
higher education. Kids; stay in school.

Not all of the doctors listed by Dean Andrew Kantis are certified by
our organization. To find a doctor evaluated and certified by the
Council for Refractive Surgery Quality Assurance, visit
http://www.usaeyes.org/surgeons/locate-lasik-doctor.htm

Dean Andrew Kantis makes a lot of false and defamatory statements
about me, but there are a few things about Dean Andrew Kantis that are
not false, such as him being sued for over $1M for defamation and
has been investigated by the FBI for an alleged extortion attempt.
Dean Kantis acknowledges this in his own words:

"I tried to be the stronger and nicer man of the two, and sent a nice
letter asking **** **** to call a "truce" back in Jan. 2007. This
letter was very carefully worded and asked **** to kindly pay for the
medical expenses incurred, that's it, and I would restructure my
website if he would show some integrity. Instead, this was taken out
of context, turned over to the Miami FBI where someone did **** **** a
favor, and the FBI showed up at my door asking questions. "
