Lasik surgery. I'm sifting through things to better understand it, myself.
I don't completely trust my Lasik provider to give me the unvarnished truth
so I figured I'd come here for some added input. I have my Orbscans, my
Wavefront readings, Ziemers, and assorted other eye measurements. I'll
organize this info and share it in the future with the hope that someone can
give me some help.
I'll give you my wavefront readings for now. As I said, I'll share more in
the future:
Pre-surgery
OD: PPR: -3.21/-1.28/171
OS: PPR: -2.83/-2.77/170
Post-surgery
OD: PPR: -0.11/-0.88/150
OS: PPR: +0.43/-2.48/176
OS(second scan) PPR: +0.25/-2.95/179
My main complaint? It was as though they did little to nothing for my
astigmatism. I'll write more in the future, perhaps at the website you
listed. How long does it take for you to activate one's account? Thank
you. I also question why they decided that custom Lasik wasn't for me.
They went with traditional. I didn't find that out until after the surgery,
though. Stay tuned.

Whatever the intent or the treatment plan, the result is that you
still have almost all of the astigmatism you had before surgery and
are now a little hyperopic (farsighted, longsighted) in your left eye.
This would provide very distorted and blurry vision if not corrected.
You still need glasses or contact lenses.

This particular newsgroup had denigrated into little more than a forum
for one individual to make outrageous statements against me and the
organization I founded. You would not deal with that issues on our
website's forum.

The astigmatism is very high and was more than the amount of myopia.
It is likely that the wavefront diagnostic could not get a good
reading. Wavefront is good for some things, but a conventional
ablation was probably the smarter choice for such high astigmatism. A
topography-guided system may even be better, but to my knowledge no
true topography-guided excimer lasers are approved for the US.

There is not much worse in a situation like this than to lose faith in
your doctor. I'll be looking for you at the USAEyes Ask a Lasik Expert
