I think this is what I'm hearing on some french audio and there are
plenty of returns for this phrase on google but can't see it in my
dictionary. Could someone translate?

I think it means "going to the countryside". There is a famous
saying among gangsters in the old Movies : "Je vais me mettre
au vert", meaning I am going to hide in the country.

There is another new meaning for "Se mettre au vert" : it means
becoming eco-friendly.

I'd sort-of guessed it would be that but wasn't sure if there might be
a specific 'something'.
