In this instance the tiles are set alongside or combined with other
materials to create
new technical potential. Adding air or “porexpan” bubbles creates panels
with
hollows and uneven textures that are ideal for use as screens or
soundproofing, as
demonstrated by the work of Jonathan Arnabat and Natalia Manzanas.
Alternating
them with sheets of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) creates laminated tiles
similar to plywood
tiles or laminated safety glass, according to Jaume Colom.
