Go to WWW.ASLA.ORG and see if that answers your questions. There should be
a list of accredited programs there. Starting salaries are around $28-$35 K
and are around $65-$120K for experienced practioners. This is a a little
more than structural architects and a little less than civil engineers...
except we are the ones who are having all the fun!

Actual practice ranges widely. You will find landscape architects in:
1. education
2. operating construction companies
3. operating design offices
4. working for engineering or architecture firms
5. environmental restoration
6. land planning, community or regional planning
7. designing backyards, residential communities, swimming pools,
streetscapes
8. recreation site planning
9. environmental impact statements
10. expert witness testimony in land use cases, or personal injury cases.
11. reviewing plans for building departments

If you need more information feel free to post again, or else email me.

I am a landscape designer in California, ready to get my license after one
remaining test. This business is the best in the world in many ways. To find
out more about the job and what's required, visit the American Society of
Landscape Architects website, (www.asla.org).
