Land that I love. A Cobb County bar is selling T-shirts that appear to
portray Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as the monkey
Curious George, peeling a banana with "Obama in '08" underneath.

I suspect the story is false, or a lawsuit is likely forthcoming.

I think this illustrates exactly what Hillary said, that the U.S. is "not
ready to elect a black president."

The Obama wing of the Democratic Party isn't about results or winning
elections but making political statements and feeling superior.

That's why the jingo media was hyping Obama in the first place: To
keep the U. S. in Iraq 4 more years.

If racism isn't a factor in America, then why isn't Obama calling for
the end of affirmative action?

Obama would pick up 3/4ths of the GOP vote with that one.

I would rather wear a curious george shirt mocking obama than a bush
is an idiot shit. Bush's image is harsh on the eyes.

obama did say that maybe affirmative action should be based on class,
not race.

There's been the nearly same "curious george" lampoon going on about
Bush jr. for the last 8 years. No protests or lawsuits; I suppose that
sort of intolerance for free speech is strictly petty democrat
territory. Whose feelings exactly are getting hurt this time? How much
reparations do they want?

You people should have respect for politicians that will truly work
for the people. That is almost a rare thing to find. But the shirt
doesn't offend me. It only helps free speech, but the copyright is an
issue.

Actually, it isn't. Steve Bell, probably our best British cartoonist,
always depicts George Bush as a chimp in one of our national
newspapers. We go along with it (and are amused) because most people
in Europe think that he's a moron. The difference with the 'Curious
George' T shirts (which appeared as a news story on British
television) is the underlying racial issue. If he was lampooned as,
say, Harry Potter, there would be no problem. But people of his
descent have long been called 'monkeys' by genuinine out and out
racists, and that's what upsets people. If I were him, I would do
absolutely nothing about it.....except, perhaps, make a joke of it,
which might result in the stunt backfiring and voters sympathising
with him.
