About the Author: Szymon Niemiec is a 31 years old former journalist
at one of Warsaw s leading mainstream newspapers and recognized LGBT
activist and photographer. In 2001 he founded Poland s the first
queer
culture and human rights society ILGCN-Poland and served as its
president until 2005. During that time Mr. Niemiec also founded and
organized Warsaw Gay Pride Events and of The Equality Parade. Under
Niemiec s leadership his association ILGCN Poland established and
organized the annual Equality Parade (2001-2004) Poland s principal
gay pride festival. ILGCN Poland is co-founder and charter member of
Equality Foundation. Szymon Niemiec currently serves as president/
founder of Friends Of Szymon Foundation which is dedicated to human
rights and equality for all Polish citizens.
