Old Question - Please NO-Lockup Wireless For Dormitory

Has been a few years - Maybe nearly 10
Hello to Jeff & couple of other good guys still here!
I am still using a single central WRT-54G early versions 2-4.
Have tried several different units.
Range is OK.
Using DD-WRT Firmware but I still get wireless lockups daily.
Typical 5-8 lightweight clients at 1 time and 20 clients max per day.... more »

What can an intruder 'do' if he breaks into your router?

A few articles ago there was a thread on how easy it was for an intruder to obtain the password of your router, even if you're using WPA2/PSK.
Assuming the intruder 'does' obtain the password, what 'can' they do besides the obvious which is to log all the web sites you go to?
For example, can they get your bank password & login?... more »

ALERT: WPA-TKIP isn't secure - use WPA2 instead

SUMMARY:
WPA-PSK is vulnerable to offline attack.
WPA-TKIP has been cracked.
TO AVOID THESE PROBLEMS:
1. USE WPA-AES or WPA2 instead of WPA-TKIP (or WEP)
2. USE A PASSPHRASE WITH MORE THAN 20 CHARACTERS. Examples:
BAD: "vintage wine"
GOOD: "floor hiking dirt ocean"... more »

Can an intruder remotely reset a Linksys WRT54G v5 router to default?

What just happened is clear ... but HOW it happened ... is not clear to me.
Here's what happened:
1. I was home with my PC connected wirelessly to my Linksys WRT54G router
2. The connection was WPA2/PSK with wireless administrator access 'enabled'
3. The connection went down; the router disappeared from view... more »
