You can find out if an IBMer has an internet account by sending a note
to n...@vnet.ibm.com with the body of the note listing "whois" followed
by the last name of the person you're trying to reach.

For example:

   whois costello

will return:

   Costello, Edward is e...@pok.vnet.ibm.com from INTERNET
      aliased as COSTE...@VNET.IBM.COM
   Costello, E.P. (Edward) is costello@vnet from BITNET

   Multiple requests may be made in a single note provided that the
   number of names found does not exceed the daily limit of 25.

If the person you want to contact doesn't have an account (more like
an alias than an account) they only need to run one teensy little
command, no authorization from management is necessary.  Registrations
take effect overnight.
