Many ways to do so.
1: Take the site offline.
2: Block it with robots.txt
3: Block it via .htaccess
4: Password protect the site.

>Hello dear members of the alt.internet.search-engines newsgroup.
Don't publish it on the web till it's finished. Why don't you want
Google to find it though? You may be asking the wrong question.

Stopping using browser tool bars (Google and others).
You can stop Google with robot file and meta tags noindex/nofollow,
but this will cause problems when and if you want it indexed. Also
you can remove it from the index if Google does find it by using
Google webmaster tools.

Many people would kill to be found on google and pay good money for
it. Why not you? Just look at some of the products people use to get
on search engines:

Hope this helps,
I don't want Google to find my website anymore because I've realised
that I've done some mistakes after been indexed.
When you fix the mistakes the pages will get respidered and then the
old versions won't appear. They might be in the Wayback Machine
though.
Better to correct the errors.
Not a lot of point in having a web site that cannot be found.
Is there?

First things first - but not necessarily in that order.

Jean Luc,
It makes more sense to correct the errors on your site and then let nature
(and
Googlebot) take it's course and reindex the updated version of your site.
However, if you REALLY want to make the site unindexable, there are a number
of ways:
a. take the site down
b. password protect the site (you can do this by logging into your hosting
account's
control panel and using the 'password protect directory' - or similar -
function)
c. add <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">
to your site's code (make sure it appears ABOVE the </head> tag. Google
used to have a bad habit of not always paying attention to this tag - I
don't know
if they've changed how they handle it or not - so this one is not
foolproof.
Your best bet IMHO is still to fix the content in question and wait for the
site to be
reindexed.
