Torrent question - How do I share files in Azureus?

I've just downloaded Azureus Vuze and am happy with it but how do I
share files? In the old P2P programs you just designated a share
folder and everything in that was available on the network. I've
googled the subject and been to the Azureus forums but all I get is
loads of info concerning setting up trackers, hosting Torrents etc.
Surely there must be a simpler way?
I recently had to format my machine but I saved my Azureus downloads
folder then replaced it in the new install (same location) but none of
the programs I want to share are showing up in Azureus so my share
ratio is set to "bad" again. Any help or suggestions greatly
appreciated.

Sorry, I should have provided that info initially. I'm running Azureus
Vuze 3.0.5.0. and I'm using the classic UI, beginner mode.

The .torrent files? and if so do I place them in the Azureus download
folder along with the programs?

None. I was on P2P (Limewire) and Usenet.
