Hi people.

Recently I've discovered a free newsserver that offers access to
binary groups (XS News), employing the IPv6 protocol.
I've tried this guide, but SABnzbd yielded the BSoD a couple of times,
so I decided to find a different newsreader that can be used to access
binary groups:

http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/f-guides-and-tutorials-65/t-free-ipv6-news-servers-guide-nzbparnewsgroups-guide-351624

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSoD

I've also tried BRN2, but that didn't seem to work either.

I'm actually trying to download these binary files here:
http://binsearch.info/?q=VOC+Cannabis+Tribunaal&max=250&adv_age=365&server=

With SABnzbd I actually managed to download 2 out of 7 gb from that
DVD, but the BSoD issues prevent me from further experimentation with
SABnzbd on my 64 bit vista system.

Greetings and thanks in advance for any suggestions, Niek

Does it come with free pot?

Grabit has an inexpensive universal search feature (which works
with AVG and Comodo firewall, but not with Avast - all the free
editions).

Additionally, the news server might have really bad completion or
retention.

Are you getting BSOD with any other apps? Probably a bad memory
stick.

That's all I can think of at the moment. I've used Newsbin &
Giganews - I paid for it, but it works a treat (I should add that
it might only be worth it if you have a very fast download
connection). Grabit is a very good freeware alternative, but it
runs way slow on my computer, and you have to pay about 1 or 2
USD per month for the universal search feature, and it won't load
more than maybe 250,000 headers per group. Also, not sure if it
has SSL capability.

Something is probably amiss with your newsreader, or the way you
are using it. And the free server probably has poor completion
and retention.

Yes, once they legalize freedom.

I rarely get them.. lately I had one that seems unrelated to these
ones and
microsuck came up with a fix for that (it suggested updating some
driver
that was an optional rather than an essential windows update).

Other than that, BSoD's happen rarely, but I do remember that you can
get them by nudging the usb plug of a connected device on xp.

It seems that the free server is down at the moment (XS news), so I
guess I'll have to
wait with further experiments until they are back up and running
again.

I had nasty BSOD's in XP and freezes in Debian for about a half year
till I figured out that the area between my CPU and CPU fan was
plugged with frigging dust. Cleaned it out, comp runs like a champ
since, not a single BSOD/freeze in months.

I remember that on my XP computer I could trigger a BSOD by wiggling
the USB plug of a connected device like an mp3 player.
