There never seems to be very much traffic here and I'm just curious about
how many of us preggers after infertility girls are actually coming here to
read or post.

There has been some controversy on another infertility group about a pg
posting and I really wish to see more support here so we don't feel like we
have to go elsewhere for the support we need. It does seem to be a lonely
place to be after you have so much support during infertility, you get
pregnant and all of a sudden you fit in nowhere!!!! At least that's the way
I feel sometimes. I don't really fit with my infertile friends ( although
that's where I feel most comfortable) and I still can't relate to the
fertiles of the world. I think a lot of us may get onto the panfert
lists....I tried a few but I prefer the newsgroups. I may not read everyday
and after a few days my e-mail would be full of messages and I could never
get to read them.

Anyway, I thought I'd start a roll call....see who's here and maybe we can
get something going on this group.

I've been lurking here for about a week. I'm new here. So I will introduce
myself.

I'm 29 years old and have PCO. My dh is 31 and fine. We were blessed with 1
child 8 years ago after some mild difficulty conceiving. This time, after
years of infertility, we finally conceived on our LAST Fertinex Cycle with BMS.
I am very excited but also very nervous, because it is so early. I don't have
any risk factors for ectopic and I've never had a m/c, but I still worry about
these things now that I am finally pg.

So count me in on the Roll Call Bekki. (BTW - congratulations on your baby boy
about to make his arrival!)

Since I finally made an introduction can I ask a couple of questions?

My LMP was 4/16. I didn't ovulate until cycle day 23, 5/8. Can I still use
the traditional add 7 days and 9 months to calculate my due date, even though I
ovulated late? Does anyone know where I can find that pregnancy calendar on
the web?

When you count how pregnant you are do you count starting from your LMP? I
guess I have an extra 9 days, does that still count? Or should I count from
the day of ovulation? This is confusing to me.

What do you think of my Betas? 18 dpo was 782, 20 dpo was 1895. They tell me
it's good, but what do you experts say? I have u/s on Friday 6/5 to see how
things look and if I'm having twins. Can I expect to see a heartbeat by then?

Thanks for your help. I hope I get to know a lot of you posting here. I have
a long ways to go!

Hi Bekki,

I'm glad you're taking roll call. I got a positive pg test on 5/22, but I've
been very hesitant to post it anywhere because of fear of getting bashed. I've
been lurking here since then but there wasn't a lot of activity even though I've
seen a lot of pg announcements recently on alt.infertility &
misc.health.infertility.
I will introduce myself now. Dh & I are 29, trying for a year & a half. 8
cycles of clomid. Laparoscopy in April showed adhesions, 1 blocked tube & the
other not so great. My Dr. removed the adhesions. After surgery, my blocked tube
got infected so I was on antibiotics. I wasn't able to start the clomid again.
The infection finally cleared up right before ovulation, so we got the go ahead
to try on our own. I really didn't think I ovulated. I was so sure that I filled
the prescription for clomid before AF arrived.
I then got a yeast infection & I suspected the antibiotics, not pregnancy.
Then while waiting for my temp to drop I noticed instead it was even higher.
Pretty soon a triphasic temperature developed. I convinced myself it meant
nothing (not wanting to be disappointed once again). Finally on day 35 & after
bouts of nausea (imagined I was sure, who gets morning sickness at 5 weeks,
right?) I took a hpt test & it was positive! Still in denial I had a blood pg
test & that was positive too!
So here I am, still in shock, but happy.

Hi,

I have been reading here for a while but I don't think I have
posted anything. I am due on the same day as you Bekki, 6-24. This is
my second child, my first is 4 years old and both are from infertility
treatments. This baby is from a fertinex cycle and we don't know if it
is a boy or a girl. I am finding it hard to believe he\she will be here
in just a few weeks!

I'm enjoying the roll call, thanks for starting it Bekki.

Take care,

Hi, my name is Tracy, age 38. I am 6 weeks pregnant with twins, though I still
have moments of doubt that it is real or that it will last! DH is 45 and has a
daughter from his first marriage. I have had tubal surgery, 5 IVF attempts, 3
of them were cancelled mid-stream due to poor ovarian response and two went
through to transfer. The first one looked good - heartbeat was strong - but MC
at 9 weeks. This second one was using donor egg - two embryos transferred and -
guess what!

I have the problem that I'm sure we all share - it is impossible for me to just
be happy about this. I told several people already and wish that I hadn't. It
is so scary! Well, one of my pleasures is this, and similar, newsgroups where
kindred spirits dwell.

Good luck to us all!

Hey Bekki,
I'm here, even though I am not PG. I commend you on taking a positive
step toward getting the support moving. I like to read all the
newsgroups I can find concerning fertility issues and pregnancy. It
helps me get a more rounded view of things.
A brief history of me. 27 years old, haven't used b.c. in 8. Went
through 4 cycles of clomid about 3 years ago with ex-hubby. From all the
reading I have done, I suspect LPD.I've had the HSG, post-coital, and
all the bloodwork back then. Have an appt with a local ob/gyn for a
consultation later this month. I had what I suspect was a chemical pg in
Feb of this year. Don't know for sure, since it was unexpected and I
didn't know about such things. I'm currently waiting to see if my neg
HPT was wrong, af is due in a couple days. I have been nauseous and
absolutely burning up lately. Hot flashes in the extreme, but could just
be a heavy duty hormone surge. Also tender breasts and cramping mildly
for more than a week now. My biggest fear is another chemical pg. You
know, finding out too late to do anything about it. I'm considering
playing hookie from work today, and wondering if I can convince my dr.
to test me.
I plan on charting starting with my next cycle. Also bought the baby
aspirin, but not sure when to take it.
Good luck getting the ball rolling :)

Hi Stacy,

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I found a couple of places on the web
that might be of some help with your questions.

There is an early pregnancy HCG table at
www.advancedfertility.com//earlypre.htm

and a pregnancy calendar at
www.pregnancycalendar.com/

I think the pregnancy calendar is mostly for fun, there is a place for you
to put the conception date & length of cycle so maybe it can calculate a
close due date for you. Check it out and let us know what you think.

As for seeing a heartbeat, I was 6 weeks before a heartbeat was seen
(couldn't be heard but was seen on u/s) so it is possible that Friday you
will see something. Share it with us when you do!!!!!!

Good luck!

What a great idea for a roll call!
I'm here. just pasted the 20 week mark and am finally believing this baby is
for real. We found out last week that it is a girl and I can feel her moving
just about daily.
Quick history:
Trying for over 2 years, 2 chemical pregs, laparoscopy, hysterography, etc.
This worked on our 2nd cycle of clomid/iui/hcg.

First of all congrats to everyone on their babies! Even though I am not
pregnant I come here to see if there is anything I can lend my support to. I
have been down the infertility to pregnancy road 3 times. First time the baby
was lost but I did have two beautiful little boys with the other two. I
conceived them both while using clomid. I am now approaching my third attemt at
getting pregnant (maybe). I tried last year for one cycle and decided that I
was't prepare for what was involved. I now have other things to deal with when
pregnant but hopefully they work out and I will join you in the ranks of being
pregnant.

I wish you all the best!

Take care,
Crystal

Hello all. Thanks to Becky for starting this thread. I'm currently 19
weeks. DH and I tried on our own for 4 years (I'm 31 & he's 29). Had no
clue anything was wrong until I started temp charts. Discovered I wasn't
ovulating. October' 97 tried a cycle of clomid (50 mg, days 5-9) with
horrible side effects, but I did ovulate. Took a few months off to
regroup. Did another clomid cycle (same dose) at end of January which was
successful.

I agree with Becky about not seeming to fit in. I used to post on
alt.infertility & alt.infertility.primary until shortly after I got pg. I
got seriously flamed by some of the long time posters for what I mistakenly
thought was a supportive post. I hope traffic picks up here because I'm
never going back to the other groups.

Fertile thoughts to all.

I guess I'll raise my hand also.

I'm 7.3 weeks pg with a singleton conceived via IVF with donor eggs. This was
an FET using AH. I'm 33 with POF resulting from radiation and chemo for
Hodgkin's Disease as a teenager. DH is 37. We did one other IVF (fresh) in
January which was unsuccessful. This was after waiting over 9 months for a
suitable donor match.

We saw the heartbeat last week. It's hard to believe, but it's starting to
feel real, and starting to get exciting!!

How about subtracting 7 days from your ovulation date, and adding
the nine months to that? (That's get you 2/1/99, and someone
else had estimated 1/30/99, so it might be close).

The book "What to Expect When You're Expecting" says that a
normal full-term pregnancy is 38-42 weeks, so even if you use the
basic "add 40 weeks to your LMP" you've got a wide window.

>When you count how pregnant you are do you count starting from your LMP? I
>guess I have an extra 9 days, does that still count? Or should I count from

For people with irregular cycles, doctors revise the due dates based
on fetal development (when they see a heartbeat, when it first moves,
and other "milestones").

Sandy (30) and Brian (32) Moore
Trying 3.5 years
He's fine, I don't ovulate (maybe once or twice a year, unmedicated),
although I was having "regular" periods (every 6 weeks, to the day).
Blood tests were normal. My original TSH was high, but several retests
have been normal). I had an HSG, showing clear tubes, but my uterus
is slightly small and T-shaped (instead of triangular). A laparoscopy
showed severe endometriosis, although I never noticed any symptoms.

I was on Lupron Depot for 4 months after the Lap to treat the endo,
and afterwards didn't ovulate on 100mg clomid (which had worked
before the lap). We did two Fertinex cycles, then a "try everything"
cycle. 100mg clomid, about 28 amps of Fertinex, 10k units HCG,
an IUI, and progesterone suppositories.

In addition to mild hyperstimulation, we did manage to get pregnant
that cycle. Five embryos fertilized, I spent most of April losing
three of them. The remaining two are doing fine, and are due
December 9. Since it's twins, I'm pretty sure they'll be early.

For those who think that "stress causes infertility", I'd like to say
that around the time we conceived I was spending most of my
not-at-work hours cleaning the house and childproofing it before
my brother brought his two kids to visit, and I turned 30, and our
adoption fell through.

It turns out, the adoption was "back on" about a week after I got my
positive test back. The birthmother is aware that we are pregnant,
but she's willing to go through with it, and we decided that we still
want to adopt. If we cancelled, and then something happened to
our pregnancy, we'd be devastated. And if we have an uneventful
pregnancy, we'll just have a bigger family. :)
(The adopted child is due July 1 via C-section, and should be a boy.)

Hi, It's Tracy again, updating my info from the last message (yesterday). I am
no longer pregnant with twins, since this am ultrasound showed only one
heartbeat. I am still grateful, of course, but feel a loss. Also they said my
progesterone is low, so they increased my dose. On the plus side, my hcg level
is good (45,000, and my transfer was 5/5). So, just wanted to set the record
straight. I guess there is a reason that some people don't say anything right
away.

I wasn't going to answer roll call until I saw this message. I've never
posted to a ng before, so please excuse if I break some rule. My DH is
fine. I have PCO and am a DES daughter. We have been trying for ten years.
We are both 34. Two years ago we started thinking other options like
surrogacy or adoption. We found a surrogate (without really trying) and
just as we were getting ready to begin going to the doctor, it fell through.
Then we started adoption. We found a birthmother and that fell through.
So, we dusted ourselves off and started again. We changed RE's and
strengthened our adoption search. We were doing a private independent
search. As we placed our last ad in the paper, scheduled another
infertility surgery and changed our plans to go for a foreign adoption, we
got the call. We found a birthmother. We cancelled the surgery and the
foreign adoption meeting. At 25 weeks we found out that it's twins. "We"
are 32 weeks, 5 days today. The babies weigh almost five pounds a piece. I
know this is long. I know this isn't an adoption ng, but those ng don't
seem to have the kind of support that I see here. Prayers and positive
thoughts that we may all be parents soon (through whatever method)!

was a disappointment.

My name is Laurie and I am 15 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. The
first was conceived on the 3rd cycle of Metrodin with IUI after 4 years
of trying. We never used birth control after the birth of our daughter
and I started charting temps again after about a year. We were
successful on the first cycle of fertinex and IUI after trying 4 cycles
of clomid with IUI.

I hope that this opens up the lines of communication in this group.

Hello everyone! Just adding my name to the roll call. I am currently in my
fifth week of pregnancy, I'm due 2/10/99. My DH and I had been trying to get
pregnant for 2 1/2 years. I just did my first cycle of Clomid in May, and it
worked!! I too, am afraid to get too happy, I can't wait until the first
trimester is over. Good luck to all of you. I hope you all have a happy and
healthy pregnancy!!

Hi everyone,

I really can't believe that I am here at this ng. After years and a successful
IVF/ICSI cycle, we found out on Monday that we were pregnant. My HCG levels
were rather high they said 626 - not sure what that might mean. I went in for
follow-up HCG today and will find out tomorrow how the numbers look. We are so
excited but also a little afraid to get too excited. I loved reading
everyone's stories and look forward to being a part of this great group.

warm wishes,
Marty

Hi Marty,

I too am pg from a successful IVF/ICSI and am within 2 weeks of my due date.

My first hcg # was 199. We only had 1 embryo to implant, so with numbers
like you have....hmmmmm:o) Maybe you have twins!!!

I know how hard it is to wait in between blood tests, you want to tell
everyone but afraid to tell anyone!

Let us know how the numbers look !

Best wishes!
Bekki
due 6/24

I've been reading for several months, but haven't posted much. (I
somehow manage to e-mail myself or something)

Hi Anny, I hope everything went well with your sonogram, we'd been
trying for 6 yrs and got pg on the 2nd IVF (30+ wks with twins)
Best to you -
Teresa

Hi everyone,

I'm almost afraid to post here because I don't want to jinx anything.
We just found out last week we're PG from our first IVF/ICSI cycle.
After 2 years of the monthly rollercoaster I'm afraid that something
will go wrong since its so early. I go for first U/S on 6/24 so once I
see for myself maybe I'll feel more confident. I'm glad I found this
NG. I've been addicted to alt.infertility, and misc.health.infertility
for the past 3 months. Anyone who would like to chat, my email is
esm...@bellsouth.net.

Best wishes to all.

Hi, Everyone,

I'm new here. Marty let me know this newsgroup existed (thanks, Marty!).
After 2 years, all the test including a Lap. (all came back great - our
infertility was unexplained), chlomid, projesterone, and Gonal-f, - I am
pregnant. 4 weeks and 2 days.... Beta level at 350 14 days dpo. We are just
beside ourselves... and will find out at week 7 if we have more than one.

Oh, by the way - the Gonal-F did it, with 2 back to back IUIs.

Diana
due date = 2/20/99 (wow, it is strange to even write that)

Hi Everyone,

I am Patty and very new to the ng. I found out last week that we were
pg. We were trying for 16 months after we had to term in the 19th week
before. I got pg on my 7th cycle of Clomid while I was doing the
challenge test for my re appt. We went to the re appt. and a seminar,
then find out we were pg. the next day. hCG levels on Day 16 after LH
surge was 135, day 19 was 558, and day 21 was 1386. I know I had 2
follicles - 21mm and 24 mm. I still have several weeks before scheduled
u/s. I know these numbers are in the gray area. Any ideas? My prog.
went from 72 to 135 then down to 40. Ob/gyn does not want any more
blood tests. Any insights or chats would be appreciated. I also have 8
year old son from previous. Remarried 2 years ago.

Patty
