picture quality is good (doesn't have that annoying copyright on the front
of pic). The package coupon is good usually 53 pic for 7.95 plus sitting
fee. We joined the smile saver for Savanna free sitting for 2 years. The
extra pictures, which are the ones that are always adorable are $12 a sheet.
But they will give a copyright release in six months, so you can take it to
places that have the Kodak sheet maker and get all the prints.BTW, if you
use a package coupon it is from the first accepted pose. Yesterday we spent
85 and it was worth it IMO.

For the most part, yes.
However, when I used a coupon for 40+ photos for only $8, they would only do
few shots (2 or 3), and I wasn't pleased with the choices. Those "bargain"
deals are good for neonates, but the older they get, I'd recommend the standard
deal.
Also, I'm not particularly thrilled with the backgrounds that they have to
offer.
I do have the Smile Saver Plan, which waives sitting fees (but it costs $35)
for 2 years.
I have to admit, I've gotten a few adorable photos with Sears. If I had to do
it all over again, I'd probably try someplace else (JCPenney?), but I'd have to
investigate the difference and what backgrounds and deals they offer. Say

I use Sears. I was very unhappy with Wal-mart. I have the Smile Saver's
Club. It is $35.00 for two years. You can sign up for internet coupons at
searsportraits.com. I use the 53 portraits for $8.95 coupons a lot. When I
get the $3.95 a sheet coupon, I order individual sheets. I had Easter
picture cards done. I was very happy with them. They turned out really
cute.

i cant stand sears---i have taken samantha there twice and i dont like the pic.
i have been to walmart 2 times, dont like them either. i have been to the
picture people 13-14 times and I LOVE THEM. if you e-mail me, i will send you
pic's of samantha and show you the difference. i think Jcpenney is good---i
havent went there yet with samantha, but got whitney's taken there 3 times and

For the most part I have been pleased with the results. I also have found that
the manager takes better pictures than most of the employees, so I request that
she take them every time and have not been unhappy. I bought the SS plan too
and only paid $25 for it last June.
You can usually find the $5.95 a sheet coupon in the Sunday paper or on the
internet. Once you get your pix there are more coupons in with them, so it
does become a little self perpetuating. I have ALWAYS bought the pix by the
sheet. When you have two, you want some individuals as well as together shots.
Also the copywrite is only six months (as someone else previously stated) BUT
if you want to get photo items that Sears does NOT sell (i.e. Christmas
Ornament or T-shirts) they are MORE than happy to provide you with a copywrite
waiver for what you want to get, all you have to do is ASK.
Another suggestion, most photo studios run slightly behind(they call this
'running on BABY TIME'), so be sure to book your appt for just agfter nap time
so that you do not have a tired cranky baby on your hands!
And remember that accidents do happen so bring a change of clothing with you to
the photographer's studio. (The one time I forgot this and FIVE minutes befor
they took us back for pix...DJ puked all over himself!! YEECH! Thank goodness
we were somewhere I could buy another outfit in a hurry.)

I had someone else take the ones of my Dad and the kids, but I HATED how they
turned out, and asked for the manager...Hola! The pix were MUCH better. I
have had her do all of mine since then.

Apparently, yes. Either that, or Sears was running some sort of sale when you
bought yours. Michelle (Mgif2) stated in her post that she paid $35, also.

They only keep the negatives for six months.
She said that Wal-Mart is supposed to have a similar policy but was not sure
what it was except that you have to call a 1-800 number for the release. The
store is supposed to give the number.

a month ago and all the pictures were off-center, and you could see mine and
DH's arms holding up the boys in the background.
I have also tried Wal-Mart and JC Penney and they are all the same to me:
teenagers with no training who take your kid's picture! Although I have to
say, it depends on who is working. There used to be this one girl at the Sears
by us who was GREAT and the pictures always looked awesome. Now she is gone
and you can tell!
After having tried LOTS of different places over the years I have learned that
you really do get what you pay for. I think I am going to suck it up and start
spending the money to make these memories look the best they can :) JMO!

I agree. They're only babies once, and for such a short time. I think Sears
and the like are ok for frequent and "routine" photos, but I think at least
once during my son's "baby/toddlerhood", I'm going to get some *real*
professional photos done, by an artistic, professional photographer.
There are some who do black and whites, and/or use natural lighting.....all
sorts of creative things. It might cost a couple hundred bucks, but I really
want to do something really special, at least once.
I guess it depends on where you live. If you're near NYC, I bet you could find
a lot of neat options.
Has anyone here done this sort of thing?

I did this when DS was about 4 weeks old. I had DD and DS pictures taken
together, in black and white. The photographer then colored in a few parts of
the picture. (A little bit of red, and some light blue also.) I love it, and am
so glad I had this done.

I've done a couple of different variations of the "real photographer" photos.
First, our local 1-hr photo developer also has a small studio owned by a
professional photog, and we go there fairly often. He does great work, and is
willing to spend lots of time and film when needed (and it *has* been needed).
We have also gone to a stand-alone professional studio with all of DD's cousins
on her father's side and have had excellent results. I would never try this
with someone who has only been through a chain studio's training course... you
need years of practice to work with 6 kids, with 5 of them under 7 years old.
But I would loooove to go to this guy... if I lived in Tennessee, I'd be broke!
