(I'm too lazy to write this in E-Prime so translate it yourself in
your head)

Don't get me wrong, but I'm not a rabid Zionist anymore than I suspect
Mr. Clore, for whom I have general respect, is as anti-Semitic as this
list implies.

In fact, my attitude towards the entire region is that until both
sides wake up stone cold atheist without their own books that claim
God gave them both the same piece of real estate, that there's no real
solution. Until then I say, "A pox on both their houses."

I do think lists like this one, that seem to place all of the evil on
one side and all of the victimhood on the other are not useful To go
on and on about all of Israel's alleged crimes and apartheid without
any mention of Hamas' or Hezbollah's alleged crimes and atrocities
including recruiting their own children as suicide bomb paints the
wrong picture, in my opinion. Bottom line, there are no "good guys"
in this fight.

My list, however, was supposed to be a list of *underreported* news.
Crimes committed by Palestinians get plenty of coverage, out of all
proportion when compared to crimes committed by Israelis. (If you doubt
this, consider coverage of Operation Cast Lead, where Israelis killed a
thousand times as many as Palestinians did, but many reports portrayed
them as equally culpable.)

That aside, as always in the real world, there are many more than two
sides. One might note that a fair number of these stories actually
portray Israelis (Jewish Israelis, no less) in a positive light. E.g.,
Anarchists Against the Wall. I'm afraid that thinking in terms of "both"
sides contributes greatly to the problem.

I know that here (Airlie Beach in the Whitsunday Islands region of
Queensland) most of my friends work in tourism and 'Israelis' are
notorious for being arrogant, chip on the shoulder pricks - nobody says
anything about their religion though...

The government of Israel commits a lot of serious crimes and human
rights abuses, and Americans are forced to support it with their taxes.
I don't read the posts by trolls that you mention, so I can't really
comment on them, but I doubt that they cover stories like the weekly
protests by Anarchists Against the Wall.

The term "underreported" seems awfully subjective to me. Under as
compared to what? Is there some objective measure of what is enough
reporting on any particular issue? I've found that people always tend
to think their own point of view is underreported while any coverage
at all of the other side is too much and shows a perceived "bias."

I just find it instructive that in your entire list you couldn't find
a single story of Palestinian crimes as being "underreported" while
more than a dozen of the Israeli transgressions met your criteria.

It's more a matter of a group of ppl who (deeply and historically) think
they are superior to other ppl because god told them so.

Don't you agree that that is a dangerous and objectionable viewpoint -

And yet you don't speak out against the egregious crimes of tricking
children with promises of paradise and virgins into turning themselves
into human bombs that will kill other people simply because they are
Jews and not Palestinians. Or at least none of those cases rise to
the level of "underreported." And what of the brave Muslims who speak
out against the hatred of Hamas and Hezbollah? Are their stories not
as "underreported" as the leftist Jews you chronicle?

To me there's plenty of opportunity to object to all sides in this
tragedy.

Totally agree. Although in this case both the Israelis and the
Palestinians seem to have "scripture" that proves God is on their side
and gave them that same piece of real estate. And both seem guilty to
me of horrible crimes to back up this certainty.

That's why the only solution seems to me to be stone cold atheism/
agnosticism

The closest I come to a sort of negative gut reaction (that I would call
at least a leaning towards 'racism') is a distaste for (modern) Arab
culture and a leaning towards the intellegence typicaly displayed by
Jewish ppl/culture - but I can't avoid the FACT that Israel has a lot to
thank the Nazis for - it's just not permitted to criticize their actions
without accusation of AntiZionism flying.

I am allergic to enforced political correctness and have a tendency to
support the 'under-dog'

Jews have been subject to pogroms and hatred since the crusades. The
idea of getting a homeland was so they could have somewhere to go
where they weren't subject to that. I don't really think the Germans
or the Japanese were motivated by anything similar. And I don't see
anything inherently dangerous or objectionable in that.

Arguably the Israelis are stealing land belonging to Palestinians. I
don't know if I agree with that, but it could be argued.

But that isn't something ideologically inherent to Zionism. It's
fighting for land.

First they set up this strip of land and said "OK Jews, go there." At
least according to the Israelis, they were then attacked by everybody
in the fucking world, and had to fight back to survive.

Are they right? Are they wrong? Are they in the moral right in the
middle east or the moral wrong?

I have no idea, but it has nothing to do with a "strong ideological
bias against Zionism". That would be a disagreement with the basic
concept of Jews having a homeland. And that's no longer what we're
talking about.

years. A DESIRE for a place they could live where their race was not

Pay attention. We're not talking about Zionists as leftists. We're
talking about the Jews that Dan praises, the anarchists and others who
speak out against the Israeli government. My point is that there are
dissidents on both sides but he only thinks those on one side are
