[Submitter's note: USM is Ultra Sonic Motor used in canon lenses.
The thread was about animals possibly reacting to the ultrasonic
noise.]

SCIENCE TODAY IN PHOTOGRAPHY.
3 MAR 01

Today Forters Camera, known for having the world's largest supply of
non-essential but cutsy camera equipment announced the arrival of the
long awaited Canon USM Motor Muffler. The OEM Mufflers change the
frequency and decibel out-put of the Canon USM lenses notorious for
causing Migraines in Squirrels.

Dr. Redmond Grey, noted Squirrologist and Winner of the Blobel Prize in
Animal Psychology declared this a great day for the Eastern Squirrel.
Squirrels will no-longer face debilitating headaches day after day when
they are at their happiest playing with their nuts. Let's face it, you
too would be happier playing all day with yours. He additionally
commented "other projects brought to the table effect the Euro Red
Squirrel". "We still are faced with their cell phone problem. Too many
cellphones, too many nuts, the squirrels are confused....that explains
the recent highjacking of many outdoor phone booths by the squirrels".

Several Canine Organizations like DUMP (Dogs for Utilizing Muffler
Protection) and POO-PEE (Pooches for the Opposition of a Piercing
Earsplitting Environment, when interviewed wanted to know if the
Squirrels had received preferential treatment and if something could be
done for the dog population. They refused to appear live citing more
pressing engagements.(Cats were seen in their Neighborhood)

Rev. Messee Jackson, PHD in BS, spokesperson for the Dis-infranchised
Hearing Impaired Pooches (DHIP) appearing on behalf of the dogs
commented "we have been pushed aside and the Squirrels won". We won in
the trenches but we got beaten in the "Bushes". He demanded an
investigation, and a reporter was slightly injured when she got
in-between Rev. Messee and a live TV camera.

Oppositionally speaking, Annika83, noted dog photographer (who once
said; "my work has totally gone to the dogs") mentioned it didn't seem
as apparent with her dogs and they seemed to have licked the problem
while having their pictures taken.

We are still awaiting words from the other analmal groups of their
feelings on this critical subject.

Good Night from Royters
