Funny. We live in a very rural area and have deer everywhere as well. If I had known it was due to the damn "deer crossing" signs, I would've yanked them out years ago!!!

I live in an urban area (London) and all we have is "children crossing" signs near schools. Still, I enjoy the same activity as Art - it's just a bit riskier : )

in UK, the simple on a sign for any sort of zoo or wild-life park was an elephant. recently there was a big campaign for more flexibility of this simple, because of many disappointed visitors looking for elephants at bird sanctuaries etc. ... !! -- we could be one big spaceman.

I have several problems with this:
1. If the deer don't know where to cross, they will cross just wherever the hell they feel like it, and more will get hit.
2. It's a lot less fun to shoot at stop signs, especially when drunk. Shooting at stop signs makes you get too close to the intersections where the cops might be, and then you have to go to jail again for harmless fun. Besides, out here the stop signs are few and far between, but the deer crossing signs are about every half-mile.
3. If the deer are crossing just wherever they feel like doing it, how will we know where to go to shoot them?
Finally, I'm annoyed by the fact that those signs are often false and misleading. Every one I've ever seen has the silhouette of a whitetail on it, but every deer I've taken within a mile of those signs has been a mulie. I want my damned whitetail! Imagine the uproar if the highway signs for other things were just plain wrong... you'd pull off for gasoline, and instead find a restaurant. Or you'd pull off for food, and find just a mailbox and a long drive to some old farm. That would cause quite a stink, but leading us to the wrong deer nobody seems to care about.
I blame the tree-hugging Bambi lovers. If it weren't for them, the damned signs would probably be right.

Does the dog think it is a zebra? Would the dog like to grow up into a zebra one day??? or is it a dwarf zebra that lost it's strips? or is it, that the dog thinks that motorist are so stupid they can not tell the difference?
