Obviously since it was not e-mailed. It is spam though.

No e-mail replies, please. The opinions expressed are my own.
I survived several flame wars a couple of years ago when I first began
promoting web based training on this very newsgroup. Although the flame
wars created lots of hits that resulted in people subscribing to the
courses, I soon found it tiresome.
Almost all ISPs and newsgroup web sites allow a 4 line tagline of 64
characters per line.
No one objects to free information. We offer a career guide that has links
to data on salaries, job descriptions and so on. This includes web authors.
There's a link to it from this web page:

Hundreds of e-Learning courses available.

I cannot believe some people. They are just out there looking for someone
to attack with 'flames'. Haven't these people got anything better to do.
We are offering an online service in HTML to a newsgroup that is specific to
HTML. If anyone posted a referral to a book that they had read, then that
would be no problem. I don't see the difference as the Customer (which is
the most important factor) is getting the skills required specific to the
posting.!!!!!... in our case at convenient and affordable prices.
I think that Ken should be pulled up for wasting time and space on the
newsgroup. My posting was to help people, his was not. It was to dig at
us. Good luck to him
Anyway... Clark I have visited your site and will be visiting again... very
interesting.
Regards and Best Wishes in your Future

What some people regard as spam is not necessary spam. This is the only
recollection I have of ever seeing a post from Lisa. And I don't recall her
ever complaining.

I'd say her post was entirely appropriate. After all, this is alt.html, an
unmoderated news group that doesn't even have an official FAQ.

Each ISP has their own set of rules. Many users conduct legitimate business
on the internet, myself included. It's perfectly legal to do so on Usenet.
I find that most people who object to messages of this nature post from
countries that tend to curtail freedom of speech. I didn't think au was one
of them. I get lots of hits from au as a result of my newsgroup posts.

Another comment from a country where free speech isn't respected.
Where are all the uk guys. They're usually pretty quick to jump on
something like this.
BTW, that "unofficial" official FAQ is pretty far behind the times.

I cannot believe some people. The come here and make an usolicited
commercial post (what most people here regard as spam) and then complain
when someone points this out.
If everyone were allowed to post about their new whatsit then this group
would be full or irrelevant rubbish like most of the other onmoderated
newsgroups.
If you tried the same thing over at alt.www.webmasters you would be
instantly flamed. If you complained or did it again you would certainly be
reported to your ISP. Your post is, after all, against their TOS and I quote

You will also be advised that alt.html does not have a charter which
means that although commercial posts may be frowned upon, they are not
off topic here

Perhaps you need to distinguish between an on-topic announcement and
spam or even off topic announcements. The spirit of usenet is people
helping people, not people calling everything spam and trying to TOS
each other.
You should also realize this is not AWW and many of us in here do not
tolerate the tight-ass-bitch-and-complain mentality of the people in AWW
. I like alt.html and will not see it turned into another CIWAH or
AWW. If you do not like the posts here, then leave.

What is your purpose in life other than to waste sperm. The persons
post was well within the confines of usenet acceptability as well as
within the range of acceptable topics in alt.html.
Have you noticed there are a few trolls who harrass you, ever stop to
think because TOSsing people is simply not cool. Even mentioning it
could easily make you quite a few enemies.

You, and Clark, make valid points. It appears in this instance I was wrong.
Apoligies to all concerned.
BTW, I have never TOSed anybody in the public newsgroups.
Cheers
Richard.

It is nice to know that there are intelligent people reading this newsgroup
for the information contained in it. I started to doubt newsgroups, but the
positive feedback I am receiving outweighs my doubt.
It seems there are a lot of people out there just reading the postings
looking to start trouble. They are the ones wasting space on the
newsgroups, not individuals like me.
I also do understand that there are a number of people who do Spam and
purposefully post to cause trouble.
My only word of advice to anyone is: not to assume.
I have already had about 4 apology postings, not just from this newsgroup.
I hope all who use this newsgroup benefit from all the relevant postings.
Learning any new skill is better if the knowledge is gathered from many
sources: books, CD-ROMS, courses (classroom based and online), hands-on,
plus many others. Let's all help each other the best way that we can.
