Sick Horse

Recently one of our horses has been really sick. I have him on high
quality feed and hay but he just keeps losing weight. He is also
really stiff on his hind end and has a hard time just moving around.
We have done blood tests and taken him to 3 vets and no one can figure
out what is going on. Every test has came back negative but he is not
getting better. I have had him on antibiotics for awhile but his nose
isn't runny and he doesn't have a fever or anything. Anyone have any
ideas about whats going on?

how old is the horse, what country/area are you in ?
eating good ?
drinking good ?
been wormed ?
teeth ok ?
what antibiotics ? how much ?
how long has it had the problem ?

may sound funny ... but look at his poop, if there are allot of stems
and what looks like partly chewed feed then could be teeth
a simple blood test may not always tell the tail you should
have a "bun" and a "PCT". simple test that only look for responses to
infection do only that, some antibiotics (oral) can be very harsh
on kidney and liver function and cause stomach problems
you should never give antibiotics without a know underlying bacterial
cause. there is a type of phenomenas that can do that without a fever
horse will be swollen in the thought latch and seem to enjoy
being massaged there. but it responds well to standard antibiotics
horse usually has obvious dirarea. there are a number of viral causes
but the test for these are Specific and will not show on a standard test
west nile can cause symptoms similar. attacks the nerves usually shows up
first in the spinal nerves. bad cases the hors will stay extremely under
with the hinds, sometimes to the point of scalping the hinds with the
fronts. some look likely they are drunk and sway side to side with the
back end not coordinated with the front ect.. WNV attacks the nervios
system. dont mean to alarm you but .. these are the possibilities
