Apparently others also are finding the Exorcist the Beginning is a
good horror flick too. I don't know why so many people in these
messages groups seem to want to get caught up in previous directorial
discussions but the movie is good!
The exorcist the beginning is scaring people and theaters are selling
out according to some "theater watch" threads in the movie related
message boards.
I know guam has it scheduled for more saturday theater showtimes than
any other picture now After it has already run the full Friday there.
http://www.tangotheatres.com/ (Guam is the first place in the USA a
movie has a full theater day so this is after Friday results becuase
it's saturday morning there now.)
I saw the premiere. if anyone wnats a non biased non director geek
opinion then here's mine about the Exorcist The Beginning.
I'm going to see it again now to see the crowds jump.
Here was my post from my first veiwing.
Saw Exorcist TB Premiere Last night at Mann's Chinese.
True exorcist fans you will NOT disappointed!
A true HORROR movie. It is horrific, gory, scary and it fills in all
the backstory for the original while having you cringe and cheer along
the way. Let's just say a Father Merrin superhero might be viable. You
will recognize the demon by words and deeds.
The girl seated next to me kept her head in her hands the whole time
saying - Oh F@#$ Oh F@#$#. Minimal cheese, cool story. Won't give
stuff away but it's Indiana Jones meets Lucifer.
Isabella is hot in the movie and hotter in a real life (blonde at the
moment) and Stellan kicks demonic butt like Russel Crowe with a cross.
And true to the 1970's movie there is ample juxaposition of flagrant
unholy activity and unspeakable blasphamy. ( Well no crucifix
masturbation so you can take the kids but close and truly gross and
horrific so be prepared with "earmuffs and eyemuffs" every once in a
while.)
Damn good adventure and scare and fans of Father Merrin will see why
taking on Regan in the seventies really was a comparative walk in the
park.
Look in the 70's the idea of possession was new and therefore made an
impact impossible to make today but frankly this movie is BETTER.
Don't believe me? Then watch this then rent the 70's version. You will
be surprised. Take care and say a prayer just in case....
Don't wear your crucifix as it will probably scorch your chest!
lol..fuck off cunt lugs!

Y'know what? I actually liked both of the "Exorcist" sequels, but since
you're being such a Fuckwit Spamer nuisance, I'm going to make a point NOT
to see this one and to tell all my horror-loving friends to avoid this one
like the plague. Have a nice day.

Weird. That's what the girl seated next to me did at a campus
screening of Tarkovsky's "Stalker."

You're a misinformed historian, too!
You sir, are a moron. I hope you spend the money you're 'earning' spamming
these groups on a nice 8-ball, and i look forward to stumbling over your
blue corpse in the streets soon.

Amazing how you aren't citing any places this actually occured in.

LOL! The idea of possession has been around since the middle ages, it didn't
start in the 70's...

Aint this about the Third of Fourth round of this crap?
Seems it was posted back to back on the same day. (Oops!)
Well, we all are certainly kicking up the general buzz about it aren't
we?
They'll prob have some kind of metric to report back to the suits
saying "It's all over the Internet!
I'm going to see this for anytime soon, and definitely not at full price.

But are they handing out barf bags at the theaters as they
did 35 years ago for MARK OF THE DEVIL?

Of course. It wouldn't do to take the kiddies to see a
young girl diddling herself with a crucifix. But "truly
gross and horrific" scenes are just the things that make
a fine family film.
-- jayembee
I filled a barf bag when I read the production credits.

...and apparently the thirty-year old Exorcist isn't "past" enough for
the "I only like movies with no sound, because they were so pure" crowd.

Er...knock that date back several millenia. The idea of possession is
almost as old as people, near as we can tell.

Not only was my dad a "glass half full" kind of guy, but the glass
inevitably fell off the table, someone slipped on the water and cut
themselves on the broken glass, the cut became infected, gangrene set in
and the foot eventually had to be amputated, resulting in deep depression
and ultimately suicide.
