Personal Lycanthropy - This is important, it is the "medicine card"
thing
that Wolfshadow was talking about. It should be a few paragraphs
exlaining what lycanthropy is to you, how it fits into and affects
your
life, what your mentality in were form is, what your goals are, the
date,
place, and nature of your first transformation (or realization of your
were nature), etc. Describe the lycanthrope myth as you see it, and
have
a blast doing so.

>Personal Lycanthropy -
Everyone has a given right to search out who they really are, be it
beast or bird, creature or human. I've found out over the years that
trying to conform to so called normality has left me a very crazy mixed
up individual. AHWW has often been the only place I can be myself and
express my feelings. To me being a were has kept me alive. My love and
thanks to all those who have helped me over the years, you know who you
are, and the list of names would sound like a role call.
Thankyou one and all for just being here.
In silence let me find peace, /\/\ ?
In friendship let there be comfort, /(oo)\ //
In knowledge may I find hope, )><( (( Scrybild
And in life let me find joy. ( )))

YOU'VE BEEN HERE BEFORE. (Needful Things)
I loved that book. Never read Pratchett though. What does he write?
-- Kane
Everything you know could be a lie.
Human Name: Sorry, chaps, this is Private. 'Tain't nothing special,
anyhow -- it's just that I'm a rather paranoid person, and UseNet has
some real wierdos <present company excepted, natch> Online I go by
Greywolf the Wanderer, which is close enough for jazz
Were Name: Greywolf FireHeart, aka Greywolf the Wanderer
Phenotype: Timber Wolf
Birthdate: June 22nd, 1958 -- Year of the Dog ;-)>
Birthplace: Edinburgh, Scotland
Home Territory: Northern end of California, about 50 miles south of
Oregon <hi, Rors!>, very near Mt. Shasta. There's something very
-apropos- about *me* living on the shoulder of a volcano!
Dream Territory: Varies, really. Where I live now comes pretty close
to it, then again, sometimes I'd say it's the desert, like around
Window Rock in Arizona/New Mexico. Either way, remote, and nearly
uninhabited. I do not like crowds.
Physical Description - Human: Shorter than I'd like, and quite a bit
fatter than I like, but working on that. Lightly bearded, when I
forget to shave; streak of grey in the whiskers, otherwise red-brown
hair about to T5 in back. Grey eyes, olive skin. Bad knees and
wrists, otherwise strong as an ox. Crooked nose <broken a couple
times, and never set> Usually tanned very brown in the summer.
Physical Description - Were: Large grey timber wolf, with a paler than
usual, thicker than usual undercoat, and just a hint of curl to the
tail. One of my grannies was a Samoyed, so I guess maybe I'm a
were-Sammie as well as wolf <grin> Hey, it's what I see in my
Dreamings!
Human Career: Currentl, gardener, with aspirations to a contractor's
license. Have done nurses aide/orderly, dispatcher/operator, three
different kinds of security work <love it, but the pay really sucks>,
home care/caregiver, hospital ward clerk, and assorted restaurant
drudgeries. Oh, and janitorial. I'm a writer; I get bored and move
on. Someday I hope to make a living writing...
Hobbies/Interests: Gawd, where to start? Gardening; jewelry
fabrication; tinkering with cars <total ignoramus but I love it
anyway>; hiking/camping; fishing, raising hell on UseNet; some
cooking; occasional artwork, though my wrists are getting too bad for
much of that. ;-( Also the study of medicine and the Healer's Arts.
Fav. Movie: Eesh... Alien and Alien3 were cool. Dead Poets' Society.
Dead Man Walking. Dante's Peak! <talk about close to home!>
Terminator 1 & 2. ST First Contact. ST Wrath of Khan <best death
scene in years!> Major League. Repo Man. That'll do for starters.
Fav. Were Movie: Wolf, close followed by American Werewolf in London,
and I really have got to see LadyHawke one of these days.
Fav. Literature: Anything by Barbara Hambly. Most of Diane Duane, Jo
Clayton, early Heinlein. Some of Spider Robinson's stuff. Some of
Niven's stuff. Legacy of Heorot <thanks for reminding me, Rors!>
Much of Marion Zimmer Bradley's stuff -- I feel like a nedestro of
House Alton. John D. MacDonald, esp. Travis McGee. Bullfinch's
Mythology, and CW Ceram's Gods, Graves and Scholars. Allen Steele;
Alistair MacLean, esp. early stuff. The Hornblower novels. And many
more.... <got more books than some libraries, I do!>
Fav. Were Literature: Andre Norton's Jargoon Pard, and Moon of 3
Rings. Still looking for the Cheysuli books. Operation Chaos, by
Poul Anderson. Howling Mad, by Peter David.
Fav. Art: Chesley Bonestell's space art; damn near any wolf pictures;
the guy that did all the cool 70's album covers for Yes <Roger Dean?>;
oh, yes -- Calvin and Hobbes! Also Neil Gaiman's Sandman, both the
art and the writing are superb. John Totleben's comix work...
Fav. Were Art: So far, Auryanne's, and Pinky's -- course, that's all
I've seen -- but I *liked* 'em!
Fav. Saying/Quote: Of *course* I recognize you. I deleted your
account last week, right?
Also: Democracy: Nine wolves and a lamb, deciding what to have for
dinner...
Fav. Were Saying/Quote: by Walksie: Sometimes the wolves are silent
and the moon howls...
Also: Seegfile? I don' need no steenkin' seegfile, I'm not humanale!
Fav. Song/Band: Choyosh -- again which to pick? Led Zeppelin; Jethro
Tull; early Santana; John Mayal; Dire Straights; Rolling Stones;
Sinead O'Connor; the Chieftains; Jefferson Starship's Blows Against
the Empire; MTV Unplugged Volume 1. Hay muchos mas!
Fav. Were Song/Band (ARE there any Were bands?): Damifino... Grateful
Dead's Dire Wolf, maybe. Hungry Like the Wolf. How Will the Wolf
Survive, by Los Lobos...
Fav. Season: Whichever one is going on at present, though perhaps I
like summer just a wee bit more -- it's nice, never being too cold.
Fav. Holiday: Tie between Yule and Samhain, with a soft spot for Guy
Fawkes Day...
Preferred Prey: Rainbow trout, deer, and steaks <rare> Pizza will do
fine, in a pinch. Oh, yes -- and chocolate bars!
Hunting Tips: Move slow and tickle them; stalk upwind till you have a
good clear shot; cook yer own that way it's always rare enough.
Preferred Method of Attack: Pounce, growl, and devour -- preferably
from behind -- chivalry filleth not the empty stomache...
Favorite Non-Were Mythological Beastie: Hmmm! the Phoenix!
Feelings towards Vampires: Eh... <shrug> Some I like, some are
overblown arrogant twits, that don't even taste good. They're all
different...
Feelings Towards "normal" humans: <shrug> IDIC, I guess.
Personal Quote: Today is a *good* day to die!!
Personal Lycanthropy: Well, let's see. I've always known I was
different; usually those around me did too. I spent most of my early
years as an outcaste, which probably explains my attitude! I've
always felt very close to animals, identifying far more with them than
with hairless apes. As a kid I was Yellow Eyes the Cougar; about age
16 or so it switched to Grey Wolf -- it just felt more true, by then.
I have had shifting dreams, and it breaks my heart to wake up from one
such, and find myself still in *this* body...
Like my namesake I am fiercely loyal to my home and my
friends, and will fight anyone who tries to destroy either. I regard
AHWW as my UseNet home, so try to defend it as best any single were
might do. In crowds I constantly have to fight against the temptation
to go bearsark and just start munching my way to the exit. In battle
I am a berserker; I do not feel any pain until as much as a couple of
hours has gone by. In grade school I was named "Animal", for my
ferocity when cornered. It is not in me to back down and submit, even
against overwhelming odds. When I die, I want an honour guard on the
road to hell, of the souls of my enemies bewailing the coming of a
warrior... <grins> Even better, I'd like my own ship in the Black
Fleet!
I am a drummer, and can often go into trance while drumming.
Eventually I will study shaman's way, if I can find a teacher who is
neither a schmuck or a con artist.
Finding AHWW was absolutely fabulous. The notion that there
were so very many out there who feel as I do, who know they do not
belong to the madding herd -- this is a treasure beyond price. I
would dearly love to be able to PS, but as yet I have had no luck,
outside of the dream realm. But I know that I AM Wolf, and I hope
that one day I'll be able to look it, as well. So I keep on with the
Quest, as do we all...
That's about it for now; I may revise it again, later...
Greywolf the Rapidly Getting Tired Wanderer
--borrowing Zepp's account.
--header munged to foil spambots; remove the extra "p"
"the hawk circles onward, the wolf runs free"...
sigh, I hope I find the words to this ballad I wrote for him a long
while ago...I think this group would enjoy it....
(PS WARF is my personal favorite as well <g> )
