I must absolutely recommend that everyone immediately sign off of the UseNet
right now and contact their bookseller.

This is worth paying hardback prices. The author is as of now my horror
writing goddess.

Please buy a copy of _Blood And Chocolate_ by Annette Curtis Klause.

She doesn't just kick ass, but if I am reading it right she's taking names
too.

Billed as a "young adult" novel, this is undoubtedly the best exploration of
the putative culture of young american werwolven and if it's entirely a
product of the author's imagination, she's got one hell of an imagination; if
it's a slightly fictionalized documentary of one hot hellish summer in
suburban Washington Metro Maryland as a new leader comes to power as a pack
and its _mores_ come adrift, it's damned fine journalism. I've not _quite_
finished it yet, but if this novel has a flaw I have yet to find it.
Everything I have ever tried to do with exploring the "alien among us" theme
has been taken out and thrashed into a leaner meaner form running wild in the
streets and I could not say if the author is inspired or informed. This is
horror, it's alien culture, it's making total sense, it's damned near
goth-as-fuck. It's romantic as hell, if you're teen it should give you true
clue, and if you remember your teens you'll remember it better. This, my
friends, no matter how spooky you think you are, is _really_ growing up
different. If you don't just love it I don't know what the hell is wrong with
you.

Presently optioned for a movie which I can only hope can at least feebly
attempt to do the novel justice - and if it can, it will be a box-office
killer - the novel is the product of an extremely nice (though she howls
occasionally when excited) children's-literature librarian residing in my
suburban Maryland neighborhood.

What evil lurks in the hearts of men? I couldn't say. But this novel can give
you a fantastic and enlightening look into what love lurks in the heart of a
modern young Wolf Princess... and see also the prices to be paid.
