As Lovecraft fans we have had two major released recently

1. Die Farbe
2. The Whisperer in Darkness.

Forget that they where HPL stories. They are damn good films.

Why is no one talking about them?

You know what? I just made $154 selling some books. I think I'm going to
buy a copy of "Whisperer" right now.

I posted a review of Whisperer not long ago, to minimal comment. My
copy of Die Farbe just came in recently so now I'll watch it; I had t
finish Troll Hunter first.

Actually I thought it was a big disappointment. I am pretty tied of
the faux documentary with young unknowns (a la Blair Witch or
Cloverfield). The premise was OK but the execution left me flat.

Really? I'm a bit over the faux doc, too, but I thought the story was
fun enough, and offbeat enough, to overlook that aspect. And the effects
were frickin' incredible. I found them completely believable.

Die Farbe?

What's that when it's at home?

A German amateur film of "The Colour out of Space". Very well made!

P. S. I watched The Whisperer in Drakness last week. It's very good!

The second WAS good, but heavily disappointed me because it was "unfaithful" to the story (but no more than a Stuart Gordon film - thankfully tits were not a prerequisite this time).

Spoiler alert for anyone who has not read the original story.

Seriously are you going to have a film that does not show to the MiGo?

A Film that has Wilmarth discovering that "Oh yes the MiGo do exist and
takes Akeley's car and pisses off" Is that an ending for a film? He
does not even plug Akeley in to hear what happened?

You can do that for a short story but not a film

It was faithfully 90% of the time. They made a damn fine film.

Comparing it to the lose Stuart Gordon interpretation of Herbert West
Reannimator is ridiculous. Although I liked the film. Jeffery Combs was
a fine Herbert West. I like less humour in my horror.

OK, point. The HPLHS has the good taste not to turn it into a comedy or a soft-core porn.
