Whenever I hear the claim something is Lovecraftian and Satanic, I know it is by the
clueless who do not understand the concept of "Lovecraftian". Personally I find such
things degrading to Lovecraft as an author and his philosophy.

This is one thing NecronomiCon made it a purpose to avoid.

I'm glad I wouldn't be attending this convention.

In my opinion Franklin, you may be interpeting the description of
Cthulhu One too litteraly and perhaps a little harshly. I've spoken to
it's organizer and he said he specifically wanted it "not" to be like
NecronomiCon. That's been done before so why repeat it? He wants to
create a estoteric atmosphere similar to moods evoked in Lovecraft's
works. In many of his stories cultists are often described by humans
who are unfamiliar with the more extotic deities as "devil worshipers"
for lack of a more concise term. I think Cthulhu One's organizers use
of "satanic" was to simply imply a dark ambience. When I say a piece
of chocolate cake is "devine" I don't literally mean it has a halo
hovering over it. This Con is more about the wonderful imagery and
atmosphere of Lovecraft's works and less about the man. Any of us can
pick up his biography anytime, but how often can you say you attended a
strange rite on May eve? This is about the spirit of Lovecraft's
works, and not about the philosphy of the man himself. I think it
sounds like a great time, and all in good fun. Or perhaps you are one
of those types that goes to a haunted house around Halloween and points
out how fake everything looks. If you like Lovecraft, you've got to
have some imagination. Let's use it.
