I bought and played this app on my wife's work iPad last night.
The general plot is commanding a unit of British WWI soldiers against
a Germans and the cult they're working with.
You get help from a Misktaonic professor, who isn't; bad with a pistol
himself.
I've only completed the first level.
I like the game play and graphics, and the turn-based movement is
nice. My favorite part is an artillery attack: you use a carrier
pigeon to signal the position of an enemy unit, and an airstrike comes
in on them. But the way its animated, it looks like the pigeon
explodes the enemy into a red mist.
However, the game is very frustrating for two reasons:
A. It's almost impossible to select what I want, or maybe I'm just a
horrible screen-tapper. At least 40% of my game time is spent trying
to select (via screen tap) the right unit or put him in the right
location.
B. There's a bug in the system where the option to "skip this turn",
say, when you've done all you can do and just want to advance to the
next round, it kicks out of the app entirely, and saves at the last
turn, so I have to repeat my last turn over again. This is
maddening...perhaps the purpose of the game is to get all the users
committed?
Anyway, I might keep playing, or I might not.
