Matt
I've left a query at the Lumley forums at brianlumley.com, which is
run by Lumley's wife, Silky. I'll let you know when I get a reply. I
seem to recall having read "The Thin People," but can't remember it.
I might have it around here in some collection or Best Of anthology.
In a rather unhelpful fashion I too recall reading The Thin People in
a collection (Dagon's Bell? thats the only Lumley collection I can
remember off hand.). It was a fun twilightzone-esque story. In a more
on topic fashion I don't belive Nonesuch is a mythos series though I
could be wrong.
"The Thin People" is in FRUITING BODIES AND OTHER FUNGI, which I
order'd from Amazon three months back but have yet to read, been so
busy. The tale isn't Mythos or Lovecraftian. In his introduction to
"The Thin People" in the collection Brian writes, "Up there in Crouch
End, you'd bump into some weird people. And there are these weird,
thin houses. On my way back from the pub one night, I found myself
looking at a thin house and wondering who in the world could live in
such a cramped-up, concertinaed sort of place. The answer seemed
obvious."
I suppose the title piece of THE NONSUCH is a new novella -- if it's
horror fiction it will be worth looking at, so I'll definitely buy the
book.
