No, it's a short story by Ramsey Campbell set in his Severn Valley
setting. I can't remember that much about it right now, though I do have
it back in Pennsylvania.

One of Campbell's earliest works. Originally printed in AH's _Over the
Edge_. It was reprinted this month in the new Fedogan & Bremer book,
_The New Lovecraft Circle_. Very classic Lovecraftian horror. Deceased
father leaves son note warning him not to visit a certain stone on a
certain island in the Severn Valley. Son does and comes to predictable
end. One of Campbell's weakest pieces, IMO.

I believe you can also find the story in the 1993 Headline hardcover
reprint of _Cold Print_ (though not the paperback original).
