Hello, all.  Just got around to finally replacing the battery (CR2016)
in the subject alarm chrono watch that I purchased in the early 1980s.
What a hassle!  The coin cell was held in place by a spring bracket that
just wouldn't come off its retaining tabs.  Perhaps there's a tool for
this but I was just using a jeweler's screwdriver.  I finally got the
battery holddown off but ended up breaking its plastic retaining tabs on
one end of the module.  Fortunately I was able to use the white plastic
spacer between the case back and the module to hold the battery bracket
in place over the new battery while I replaced the four case back
screws.  So now its the case back that's holding the battery in place.
Other than that, the watch is working fine.  Oh, and one other detail -
don't lose that little spring that goes between the module and the case
back.  Lot of trouble for a <$20 timepiece but it's fun to have these
old things still working.  Sincerely,
