The south is a shithole, and people like you who defend its backwardness

fuckwits.

A liberal haven. Full of illegals and gangs that will shoot you,

It really is a shithole. I drove past gummer's place last year.
There's a weed-choked, trash-strewn vacant lot across the street from
it. The street is cracked as if it hasn't been paved since 1950. It's
just the most squalid, dirty, god-forsaken dump you can imagine.
Seriously, check it out:
http://tinyurl.com/c45lawt
http://tinyurl.com/ck2oh6x
http://tinyurl.com/c2gyous

The first view is of gummer's rancid squat. The second is of the
cracked pavement in the street directly in front of gummer's dump. The
third view is of the vile vacant lot across the street. No person with
two quarters to rub together and an 8th grade education would live there.

Gunner's right about there being non-combat areas.

When I picked up a fragment at Kien Ahn, I got shipped up to Cam Rahn Bay
for repairs. It was like three weeks of R&R, even though I had duty
every day. Not a shot to be heard, no talcums going off at random all
night... just helicopters and Warthogs going up and down 24-hours.

Heck! I learned to sail a cat-rigged boat while I was there, re-covered
pool tables for "light duty", and ate like a king. Yeah... that was "the
rear", alright!

Nope. It's right there on Google Maps. However, last fall, I *did*
drive by gummer's hovel on my way between northern and southern
California, just to see if it looked as bad as it shows on Google Maps.
It's actually *worse*. The entire place just looks like shit. The
average price of a house in Taft is barely over $100,000 - that's in a
state in which the median is over $200,000, including crappy areas - and
the estimated value of gummer's landfill is not even half of the Taft
median.

It's a shithole - just like where you live.

The Cubans that came in the 60's were decent hard working people. They
moved into the ghetto slums of Liberty City and rebuilt (parts) the
place. Mostly they became Republicans.

The Mariel Cubans in early '80s were the insane criminals forced out
of Cuba prisons by Fidel at gun point onto the freedom flotilla. Had
to fight them bastards everyday.

It was a dangerous time in those days.... same with the Columbian
Cocaine Cowboys in the '70s.

The last time I was in Miami, I think, was just after Hurricane
Andrew. What a mess...

I worked with people who left Miami right after Andrew. One ran the
county's two way radio service depot. He was working for about 25% of
what he made in Miami, but he said that hurricane Andrew was the last
straw. His house was a couple years old, and supposed to have been
built to current huricane standards. In reality, the builder paid off a
building inspector to pass the substandard work, and what should have
been minor damage resulted in a total loss. The city 'couldn't explain'
all of the substandard wiring in the damaged buildings, and none of the
inspectors still worked for the city.

Check for Castaic and then Lebeck.

Its just a couple miles south of Lebec...right at that east/west bluff
line..zoom in and an ideal zone of heavy defensive lines and easy
crossing could be laid out right there about .75k south of Salt-Lick
trail. And from the ground..there is no good way to do a work around.
View a topo of that area. Its all up and down. Another place would be
just about 2k yrds below Pyramid Lake, but that doesnt cover Hiway 138.
Shrug But it could be figured in with another road block on the 14,
leaving the Antelope Vally, (Palmdale, Lancaster and the military base)
would be inside the Central Valley Republic. To the east..Death Valley.
Dont need a lot of security out there. Just some roaming patrols and air
strike capability..which is easy to do with the air base out in
Palmdale. So down by the lake may be a good alternative. Worst comes to
worst..blow the dam at Pyramid lake..and kill a million people in the LA
basin. And put them out of water. Blow the damn at Castaic as well..and
kill 5 million people. Might not be a bad insurance policy, eh wot?

Ayup. Home Sweet Home! Looks like they were taken early in the spring.
Stuff is still green. Mid summer here, most everything goes brown until
the first rains of the winter. But! I got a lawn going this year!! Put
in a sprinkler system, rototilled it all out front and planted it with a
high temp hybrid that enjoys shade (Notice I have trees around the
property? Helps keep the sun off the front of the house and supplies
some shade to sit out and watch the traffic and the birds and whatnot.
We are pretty big on trees around the property. Sure helps keep some sun
off the houses and whatnot when its 108 (as it was today)

Damned shame they didnt go down the alley, could have seen my cargo
container (25') and the sail boats parked next to it. In the trees at
the back of the empty lot I own to the left. I also own the lot on the
other side of the alley. Goes out to Eastern St. Used to be a house
there, but it burned down some years ago. Just an empty lot, but it
didnt cost much. So Im up to about an acre..I think its something like
.85 acre. Nothing to use it for of course. Hey! If you go around to 328
Eastern (front of that property) and zoom in to the alley..you can see
my cargo container under the trees! And about make out the mast of one
of the sail boats to the right of it. But then..Ive got a big monitor
here. Shrug.

Ive been thinking if the economy ever gets good. Im going to put up a
30x50 steel building on the empty lot to the left of the house. Then
fence it all of course and put in some landscaping. The area is
actually not in the city of Taft, but is 3 blocks outside of the city
limits in the county..so the building codes are far more relaxed and I
can put up a "workshop" that I can roll around in. Lots of guys have em
all over town and up in Taft Heights and whatnot. The county doesnt care
as long as its built to code.

Here is the back of my main lot and the sheet metal fence (up to code)
that I put up to keep the toys out of the public view.

https://picasaweb.google.com/104042282269066802602/Yard#5219325006569125490

Here are pictures of the place (and job photos) for the last 5 or so
years. It looks MUCH better now that Ive Ebayed and Craigslist (Stacks O
Stuff album) most of the guts of two factories I closed down.

Any questions..feel free to ask. <VBG>

There are some other fun photos in there too. Like me as a cop in the
late 1970s, photos from highschool...the usual. I still have 10,000
photos to scan one of these decades. Shrug

My son waits table (and bartends) in San Diego and I suspect he would
rather do that than live in Birmingham under any circumstances. Doing
anything in San Diego is better than doing anything anywhere else.

Cannons? In Hornblower's navy, perhaps. Our navy uses rifled guns.

(Cannons? Hooboy!)

To be sure, there were always 'sappers' trying to breach the perimeters of
bases like Cam Rahn Bay (which was a joint services base), but the base was
SO large that unless you were near a guard tower on that rare occasion when
a sapper tried to make it through, you'd never hear a shot fired.

Well... not in the blue water contingent either.

Those big 16" calibre rifled thingies on battleships are called "naval
guns", not cannon. (cannon is the plural as well as the singular)

3"-58 was the biggest naval gun I ever shot. But we did have something
similar to a cannon on the boats.

We had a smoothbore on board the Swift boats that was slightly over 3"
calibre... an 81mm marine-mount mortar with selectable trigger/drop fire,
set up with a single-barrel Browning .50 over/under on the fantail of the
boat, just forward of the mortar box.

In your opinion. There are a lot of great places to live, depending

A number of inspectors were indicted and convicted for bribery and
such. They were taking cash kickbacks from the contractors.

Homestead had mounds of trash that must have been a 3-4 stories high
after being pushed up with dozers. I've been through a number of
hurricanes. After seeing the damage from Andrew I was somewhat
shocked. The Miami Zoo lost many exotic animals, research, etc.

I figured out how implausibly light things like straws can embed in a
tree or phone pole. The wood cracks open lengthwise on the upwind
tension side when it bends in the wind. The cracks close on trapped
debris when it straightens out.

Even if you were trying to do that and even if you could pull it off

You're lying, again, DumbShit. There are only *two* conclusions that can be
made from your statement; Georgia and Texas were in the Union or Atlanta and
Austin are in NC or VA. I know you're incapable of understanding, but that's
what the facts.

Just recently Houston was found to be the #1 nice city in America. Still, in
enumerating all the cultural niceties of Houston, the article completely
overlooked the Live Stock Show and Rodeo, which draws more attendees than
the season totals of the Texans, Astros, and Rockets. Combined.

El Paso was number nine, as I recollect.

Don't overlook St. Petersburg in Florida, sometimes known as God's waiting
room.

Yes..I am. And Ive asked several professionals to assist me. And they
have agreed. After reading your posts..they were eager to not only find
out who your ISP is, but your name, address, phone number and any public
data on you.

After your ISP shuts you down for cause..other steps may be taken to
ensure you are never seen on Usenet again.

You have become the hobby of several people who hold you in deep
contempt.

Now was there anything else you wished to spew, before I killfile this
counterfeit nym and you drag out the next one?

Can you say with proof..that there are not people out in the desert at
depth?

Can you?

Be sure to provide proof that I have claimed "I" made direct threats
against a unique individual. We will all be waiting with interest.

Of course he died of "natural causes". Did anyone claim differently?

But he is dead, isnt he?
