We have an old house with a big second floor gallery that acts as a roof
to the room below. This porch has a canvas floor. Unfortunately this
vintage canvas is in poor condition and has been inelegantly and
ineffectively patched with roofing tar. Settling of the house has changed
the pitch of the porch so that it no longer drains as it should. Hence the
porch floor needs to be water tight.

I would like to replace the original canvas but don't have a clue how to
do it, where to get materials, etc. So far my research hasn't been very
fruitful. Can anyone help with this obscure home rennovation technique?

Thank you

Do a web search for canoe canvas repair. Same
technique. Heavy canvas is stretched and tacked
down. Then it's filled with a paste of linseed oil
and fillers, and painted over with oil paint. In
the old days it was heavy lead paint.
