I have a 1 year old home which has a Kinetico Water Softener and iron
filter. I've noticed that when I fill the jacuzzi tub with water, the water
has a blue color to it. Is this normal?? The water tastes fine and doesn't
have any odor.

Hard to tell from this end of a computer about the "blueness" of the
water, but it must be significant or you would not bring it up....

Question: Are you using rock salt in the system? If so, and the
water is really blue, I urge you to contaact the salt vendor and
insure that you don't have some salt that contains a chemical added to
rock salt used in de-icing roads. If this is the case, you should
stop using this water immediately, and get it out of your water
system....it can be toxic....

Are you on city water or your own well? What is the pH of your water? Do
you have iron in the water and if so how much? Are you using a resin
cleaner? Age of the house plumbing and is it copper? There are many
other questions, so describe your situation. When did the color start
showing up? Is it constant? How long have you had the softener? Etc.
etc..

>I am on my own well. The house is a new house with copper plumbing. The
color of the water may have been a light blue in color since we moved a
year ago. I only recently started using the jacuzzi since I pulled a muscle
in my lower back so I don't know if the light blue color was always there.
About 2 months ago, we had to have a service call done due to a slight
sulphur smell from faucet when water was first turned on. The service guy
ran some clorox through the system and this got rid of the sulphur smell. He
told my wife that the system has to be back flushed every now and then.
Whatever that means. I don't know the ph. I don't know about a resin
cleaner. I do know that I have to add a 5 pound can of potperm to the iron
filter tank every 6 months if that helps.
The service guy is coming on Wednesday.

Soldering flux in the tubing or acidic and/or corrosive water may be the
cause. See what he says Wed..
