Big lcd vs medium plasma

Out this weekend with the kids looking at HDTV.

For the price of a 70 inch Sony lcd projection I get a 42 inch Sony plasma.

Aside from the coolness factor, is the plasma really that much better?

I spent the last couple of months debating the same question. My
conclusion was a definite no. I just bought a 60" Sony XBR LCD and I
love it! In my opinion the picture is a close equal to a plasma. The
kicker is 60" vs 42". There is no comparison. The viewing experience
is awesome with the bigger screen. Go with the LCD. You get a lot more
for your money.

I bought myself a 50" Sony LCD and love it. I'm sitting about 9-10 from the
screen and it's sweet. I looked at both before buying (lcd and plasma) and
thought the LCD was every bit as good as plasma. I think the maintainance
on the LCD is less than on a plasma. Replace the lamp on the lcd when it
needs it at a reasonable cost, re-charge or re-buy the plasma.

Save your $$$$, go LCD
