Just dug out an old Yamaha receiver that I had in the garage. It is old Yamaha
R-V703 (pro-logic) that I was going to give to my bother in law. I cleaned it
up and hooked up a couple of speakers to test that it works and I cannot get
any power to the unit. Yes it is plugged into a live outlet.
Pressing & depressing the power button does nothing. I took the cover off and
the fuse looks good.
Any ideas of what else could be causing this? I was thinking about taking it
into an electronics repair shop, but dont know if the unit is worth the repair.
Thanks.

Sounds like a blown-power supply.

No disrespect intended, but I'd be willing to bet the original poster
of the problem has probably reached some sort of resolution in the 5
months since posting the question. You could save yourself some time
and trouble by replying to more current threads. : )
