Each major US party has nominated Presidential candidates too far from
the center to possibly win. (Except, of course, in alternate history.
And in the confident victory predictions made for Goldwater and McGovern.)
What if the Democrats nominate a McGovern-equivalent, and the Republicans
a Goldwater-equivalent?
