Subject: Billion Dollar Presidential Campaign
According to this;

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0408/9737.html

So far the following have raised;

McCain: 73 Million
Obama:  236 Million
Clinton:  191 Million

So already we have half a billion dollars raised for one campaign,
just among the top three.  Will we see over a billion dollars spent on
the POTUS campaign?

Probably not this year, but it wouldn't surprise me if it reached that
level in 2016 or sometime past that.

Thoughts?

That makes the election campaign about the same as one year's revenues
for the New York Yankees.

Of course, that says as much about the increasing money in sports as it
does about the increasing money in politics - both are rich men's games
nowadays - but I think it's a useful corrective to the horror over a
billion dollars.
