I am looking, without success, for instructions on how to make a pattern
for a wool doublet/coat with attached sleeves circa 1630, although the
character would probably prefer a slightly earlier timeframe for the
coat, ie 1598-1620. It needs to fit a female with a 44F bust and a 42
inch waist. I am in a living history group portraying the (real -- she
was born in the last third of Elizabeth's reign and died in the mid
1600's) character Moll Cutpurse, and she habitually wore men's clothing,
so it's a man's coat/doublet for me, despite the fact that I have a
figure that could not be called manly by any stretch of the imagination.

I am at a novice sewing level and could probably put an early 17th late
16th century coat together if I had decent instructions, particularly
about how to create the pattern, which measurements I need and so forth.

I appreciate any and all help. I have 3.5 yards of 60" wide
medium/medium-heavy grey wool and just need pointers here and there
about how to go about creating the coat from scratch.

Thanks!
