Subject: Need help with a coat of arms
I have several versions of the coat of arms of the Gower family of
Worcestershire.

Visitation of Worcestershire, 1569.   Azure a chevron between three
wolves' heads erased or.

My question is, what color is the chevron?   Also, does the upside
down v point toward the top?

Another version has wolves' or gowers' heads.   Is a gower among other
things a word for wolf?  That is not one of the meanings ascribed to
the name.

Another, from a recent Welsh branch of the family is, Quarterly -
first and fourth; azure, a chevron, argent, between three wolves'
heads, erased, proper of the latter, second: or,  a cross, argent; and
third, gules, threesnakes (entwined), argent Crest : a wolfs head,
erased, proper.

Which quarter is which, and what would the three snakes look like?

Yours,
Dora
