Depends on the artist. Some are not comfortable with Water Colors,
and others are. So I say leave it up to the artist. Welcome Back

Well, since you put it that way, I generally like anime style art to follow
conventional solid, bold coloring. Although Yoshitaka Amano's beautiful watercolors
are totally awesome. I am not sure if one should classify him as an anime artist or
just a fine painter.

If I had to chose between one or the other, I guess I'd have to go
with solid bold coloring. It would be a hard choice, though.
Is this a metaphor for something? ^_^

I like it as close to anime as it can get. But that's personal opinion.

Ken:)
Airbrush is nice ^_^
But most games don't have a solid coloring either, especially the
older Anime games use a lot of dithering for creating more realistic
shading without using too many colors.
> I know it really depends on the picture and how well

> if you had to chose one or the other....
I wouldn't like to choose one or another, I'd like to choose both ^_~
The best looking Hentai pics I have are those with the shading
mentioned above, usually taken out of games. They are 256 color GIFs
and that means they are dithered to have some kind of shading. But I
don't think the pictures are looking so good because of the technique,
I think it's just that the artists are great.
So I say: It depends on the picture and on the artist!
Usually an artist should choose the style s/he is best in, since that
will produce the best pictures. If an artist thinks s/he skilled
enough in both styles, then s/he should look what fits best to the
picture.

Well, even a good pic can be ruined by bad coloring. I jes rarely see it
happen. Unfortunately, the reverse never seems to work. Good coloring jes
can't save a bad pic.
Other than that, I don't mind how a pic is colored, actually. But then, you
were always pretty good at both the drawing AND coloring aspects, Kitty Catt.
Keep up the good work.

*thinks about it* I guess it depends on the art style then... not that I thought
of Macross as a realistic coloring style... guess I'm too busy masturbating at the
thought of my own Veritech -hence why I have 2 in The Arc.

Personally I like your solid, bold coloring better. It makes it feel more like
an extension of the character from the anime/game, instead of an all new
character by an all new artist. When you see an Ami that looks like Ami, you can
assign her all the traits and emotions she had in the anime, it makes for a more
familiar loveable character.
But that's IMHO of course. ^_^

After watching Lady Oscar (Versailles no bara) today, I must say that I prefer
the softer aquarel style. I'd very much like to see some of your drawings
painted as opposed to coloured by computer.
