If you know the name Marc Emery then you are probably aware of the
struggle that has come about over the legalization of cannabis in
Vancouver, B.C.and the U.S.. I think a big problem with this movement
is that people want to lead their lives without the possibly of having
their freedoms compromised - so a vast majority of the people that
believe in decriminalization or legalization aren't completely heard.
Isn't it true that a lot of people would and do vote against medical
use or legalization because they fear that other illicit drugs could
also be made legal? [ie. If mj is legal then other drugs like cocaine
and heroin may be made legal. Such legalization could be bad for
society as a whole.] Isn't cannabis the most useful plant on earth? If
there was a way to distinctly separate the notion to legalize cannabis
vs. legalizing cocaine, heroin, etc. - wouldn't more people support
it? Isn't the legalization of cannabis for all its worth ready to be
legalized? Where is the United States' Marijuana Party? It is nowhere!
You know why? Most people don't want "marijuana" legalized! Imagine
that! They just know of the potheads that at have acted like idiots or
how stupid they were when they smoked that one time. How many really
think about medical marijuana when they think of legalization? Some
people do get relief from smoking bud. But in fact are not more people
using recreationally - of course. Any politician knows he must make
the majority of the people that are going to elect him/her happy on
most issues. This is an issue that will not go away but seems to pale
in comparison to all the pain and turmoil going on in the world
abroad. So doesn't everyone know that pot is on the back burner for
now? NO. If you are at all versed in the multitude of benefits of this
amazing plant then you know this plant can help our nation be greener
and stronger than ever before. This is an invaluable resource but we
just can't seem to get over that hump that is keeping us from our
goal. Why is that? Isn't it because most people only see cannabis
legalization an excuse for potheads - a detriment to the future
generation - a hindrance to our/their future? This is why cannabis is
not legal. It is seen as an indulgence not a benefit. It is lumped in
with all those other drugs that we definitely know shouldn't be legal
- because of their strain on society. Heroin, cocaine,
methamphetamine, etc... Don't we clearly know these should stay
illegal? Wouldn't their legalization become a detriment to society
because of the addicts they would produce and the overall pain that
would be associated with their use? How is cannabis hemp different?
Here is the question: Should cannabis hemp be made legal and
regulated? Sold like tobacco and alcohol in stores? Grown by farmers
across the country? Made into housing and building materials, paints,
varnishes, food, fuel, etc.? Would you be interested in being part of
a party that is green? Could you be part of a movement that is green
and has a great chance to gain legalization of cannabis while still
being tough on other drug laws? This is quite a complex topic. And
mass legalization of all illegal, illicit drugs is never going to
happen, nor do most people want it to happen. But by in large, the
legalization of cannabis while deterring hard-line drugs is a welcomed
scenario. Cannabis has so many uses it could easily be seen as the
ultimate plant. The point being, if we are going to "go green" we
should welcome the legalization of cannabis hemp. It is by far the
most useful plant on the planet and I welcome any dispute of that
fact. Cocaine, heroin, and meth. are just drugs and used only as
drugs. We can still keep them illegal and focus our attention on the
movement. To some, this may seem a random, trivial issue - but it's
not. This is a huge issue for the United States. If you want to make
the nation stronger you will want cannabis to be grown and utilized
across the United States. The consumption of marijuana by smoking is
laughable compared to all the people that can and will benefit from
the legalization of cannabis for its other uses. Yes, and we do know
that hemp grown for its fibers is nothing like marijuana grown for
smoking. And marijuana is the biggest cash crop in a few states. Why
is that? Is it because people like to spend every waking moment of
their lives stoned? Or is it a vastly accepted pass-time in many
circles? Legalization comes with many obstacles as we well know. If
you would please pass this link to people you may find interested in a
new movement for legalization. This is a unique entity that requires
leadership and we are looking for people that believe in this cause.
At its core this movement is for the legalization of cannabis hemp
only. This is a huge hurdle and we don't want to take other illicit
drugs along for the ride. Cannabis is long overdue. Cocaine, heroin,
methamphetamine, etc. are not invited and, in fact, we are against
their legalization entirely. That is our point. If you are interested
drop us a line and there will be more to come.
