According to the Guardian, a recent RCOG report advises
pregnant women to avoid using shower gels - to protect
the unborn from possible harmful effects these may have.
Knowing how difficult it is to remove traces of these gels
from the glass walls of my shower cubicle, I'm not at all
surprised that they may well have unsuspected
physiological effects.
Whether the mechanism is simply by absorption through
the skin, or by direct tracking up the vagina, is not stated,
but it is nevertheless a worrying report.
Makes one wonder whether a wider investigation into
the safety of gels is needed
Anyone knowledgeable care to comment ?
