Latur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has welcomed
yesterday's Cabinet decision to approve the upgrading of the Nagpur
airport to a world class passenger and cargo hub to boost tourism and
international trade, saying that it would generate large-scale
employment for the embattled Vidharbha region.

Deshmukh said, "Finally the long-standing demand has been met which
would, among other things, also generate large-scale employment for
the embattled Vidharbha region."

Talking to a serried class of journalists here last night, Deshmukh
said, "It feels good that finally a long-felt demand has been met and
it is a victory of the people of the entire state."
